What is wrong with the Bringer of Death staff?
Heya all, only have a couple posts here as I am pretty new to the game. This warlock is my first character in WoW and am currently 64. When I was about 40 or so, I got a level 70 staff from a guildie and banked it till 70. It seems to be a good staff for a Warlock, but recently I have seen a few post on the WoW forums poking fun at a warlock/mage having this staff and at a loss as to why? The Bringer of Death - Thottbot: World of Warcraft Bringer of Death One of the posts specifically was WoW Forums - You know your Heroic PuG is in trouble when.. Thread You know your Heroic PuG is in trouble when Post #102 - Your mage/warlock is wearing level 60 greens and the "Bringer of Death". *** Just wondering what I am missing in thinking this will be a good upgrade for me once I hit 70? |

Re: What is wrong with the Bringer of Death staff?
There's nothing wrong with it. It's not as if you're trying to equip a druid staff for the stam; oh yes, I've seen it happen, and I've politely left pugs like that before they've started. So, if there's nothing wrong with the staff, it stands to reason that there must be something wrong with the people who state that there's something wrong with the staff. They're most likely poking fun because they're elitist and like to make fun of other people because it makes them feel better. They would probably tell the person equipping the Bringer of Death the farm BGs for the spellblade or some such. The only problem with that type of comment is that sometimes you need ok gear to get better gear. Bringer of Death is a reasonably common world and perfectly worthy of a lock new to 70. *edit* I will say, however, better gear shouldn't be too hard to obtain with some good kara runs and Heroics. Just follow Cpimps gearing guide to suit your needs and you should be ok

Re: What is wrong with the Bringer of Death staff?
Personally, I had that staff when I first hit 70. It really isn't a bad staff though it lack a bit for doing too much more than stepping over the level 70 threshold. I had that staff until I could pick up the arena season two staff: Merciless Gladiator's War Staff - Item - World of Warcraft The bringer of death, unlike the warstaff I linked, doesn't supply spell hit (which you will need for heroics and raiding). The warstaff is probably a pretty good entrylevel heroic and raiding staff until you can pick up the mindblade from prince in Kara or other items like the magus blade from Gruul. Honestly, just starting out.. I really don't see anything horrible with the bringer of death. I mean, you could certainly do a lot worse ;) |

![]() Sounds like me, I plan on being 70 by next weekend and I will be the first to admit I need all the help in gear I can get, quite frankly I am in terrible shape compared to most warlocks I see ingame. Here is a link to my armory which should speak for itself. However, in my defense I am doing the best I can with not having any RL friends to help me out in the game, although I have a very friendly and helpful guild now. The World of Warcraft Armory |

Re: What is wrong with the Bringer of Death staff?
First off. ther is nothing wrong with the staff. however... here are 2 items that can be had at level 70. which should be fairly easy to get. Continuum Blade - Thottbot: World of Warcraft and Star-Heart Lamp - Thottbot: World of Warcraft I think the reason people make fun of it. Is that it is BoE. and due to the fact that someone could get it with out ever having grouped in WoW. ( Playing in a group requires many skills solo play does not. ). Personaly I would not sweat it. You have found this site so you are already leaps ahead of the average WoW player. My pally used the Oath keeper ( Lol keeper ) when he first hit 70 as ret. ( at the time ret still required Spell damage ) and after extensive research i did that was currently the best weapon i could get untill an Honor reward mace or the axe off prince dropped. ( got both BTW )

Re: What is wrong with the Bringer of Death staff?
As has been pointed out, there are many good options that are MUCH better than the bringer of death. I imagine with all the old seasons of pvp gear, and items like the consortium blade form rep and such seeing somebody with that staff is basically a "fresh level 70" waring light, with the assumption that they don't know how to play their class as well due to lack of experience. Your not level 70, having this staff for when you hit to replace your old weapon is the normal gearing process and nothing to be ashamed of lol |

Re: What is wrong with the Bringer of Death staff?
I think its more they're saying you leave because the bringer is BoE, so if they're wearing greens they had from level 60 and a level 70 AH weapon, then one of two things has probably happened, either they ground to 70 and skipped all quests involving better gear or they bought a character and then bought a weapon. also if they are in all greens except for an AH staff, they probably have never done a regular instance, and now they're trying it on heroic. its just one of those things. when i hit seventy i bought a bunch of AH blues so i could run kara with my guild right away, and i already had a few blues from running instance on the way to 70. if you're 70 and your gear is all green you should not be in a heroic. I know text block, and so what. |

I concur with all the previous posters....not to mention that it just looks so freakin cool!!! Especially if you put an enchant on it. I still have mine in the bank.

Re: What is wrong with the Bringer of Death staff?
Back when The Burning Crusade first started, that staff was a good pick..there were no welfare epics so it was the staff or the KOT sword or the one from Murmur. If I was leveling as you are, I would be farming Bg's for the spellblade. It's a fine staff until you get something better. It looks really cool too
