blue post on new gear looks

The look of the sets will improve as the seasons continue. If we started the first sets of PvP gear with asteroids orbiting the shoulders, in a couple seasons you'd be wearing Thrall on your head.

Under the current design philosophy, the idea is that in PvE you're killing very rare and challenging creatures of Azeroth, while in PvP you're receiving gear from the crafters (so to speak) of your faction to get you battle-ready. Chances are you're going to be given the gear that'll get the job done rather than the gear that has to be constructed entirely out of the nipples of a 7,000 year-old dragon.

Re: blue post on new gear looks

Maybe.. but how about improving the looks on the normal drops too ?

Everything looks plain and crappy. Only weapons and some offhand items looks good right now =/

Very lackluster

Re: blue post on new gear looks

Well, I got the best? PvE shoulders in the game, Mantle of the Corrupted and they look like shite to me.

Also, I have The Soulblade, which is one of the top 3-4 weapons in the game, looks like a 20 silver vendor dagger.

Surplus Limb, the best? off-hand in the game, is kind of funny, it's just a severed arm with a handle, but its definately not Dragon Nipples.

So the part about PvE being about killing leet and rare bosses who drop sweet looking loot is not true. The PvE loot I've seen looks generally crappy.

Thank god I'm an engineer and can wear sweet looking crafted goggles. All the helms I've seen look terrible. Remember how cool Hood of Hexing looked? Show me one piece of Epic PvE gear that approaches the coolness of that.

Re: blue post on new gear looks

Don't get me started on cloth head items. They're hideous.
I've turned off my helm display.
I don't have t7 head yet, but that looks kinda silly too, makes me look like a short verion of C-3PO from star warrs (i'm a gnuum).
The Burning Crusade headz were alot better. My favourite was t5 helm, but t4 wasn't so bad, and t6 looked nice on taller classes(not so much on gnomes)

Re: blue post on new gear looks

T5/S2 gear was the best look IMHO. T6/S3 gear was nice, but not as good as the previous. Going from that to what we have now is hard on the eyes. I don't really care about the "logic" behind it, they just need to improve on it.

Re: blue post on new gear looks

Honestly I don't mind the looks of the gear that much. My toon is a female Blood Elf, shoulders have always been kinda blah. Usualy too small to make a big impact visualy. While I agree that the helms are horrid thus far I haven't had the helm showing for a while now, no big difference to me.

I guess that I think of Northrend as more dark and foreboding than Outland (alien and exotic), so I see the armor sets reflecting this somewhat. Either that or I think of Northrend as returning back to Azaroth, and when I think of that I think of the shadoweave set I wore forever there, kinda dark, low frills, and to the point.

While my Outland gear got the job done I looked like a blooming clown in a g-string doing it (did anyone find robes in BC before you dinged 70?). I'm currently running with a mixture of Argent Dawn invasion gloves, two pices of early Northrend crafted gear (Frostweave pants and boots I think), and instance drops (or quest rewards from) Nexus, Uthgard Keep, Old Kingdom, and DK. All of this gear kinda flows together, even though it's from four or five different zones.

I think this is kinda what the folks up at the Blizz art dept. were shooting for after all the moaning and groaning I remember seeing leading up to Wrath about how ugly and mismatched the gear was in BC. While you may not look like something out of a Rembrant, you don't look like something out of a Picasso or Dahli either. And seriously folks, what were we expecting after the T5 stuff? I don't think they could come up with a better looking set than that.

On an unrelated note, were did all of the Draenor locks come from? I thought I was the only one on here in forever! Glad to see I'm not alone.
