Suggestions for raiding

Character Name: Otelma
Armory Link: The World of Warcraft Armory
Talent Build: The World of Warcraft Armory
(53/0/18 - as suggested here).

Quick Info
Health: 13664
Mana: 15151
+Damage: 1228 (unbuffed)
+Hit: 369
+Crit: 9.82%
Have you read the gearing guide? yes, i did (unfortunately as i am posting cpimp's guide is not ready yet...)

Items/Slots in need of immediate upgrade:

Not really sure... I was thinking neck (trying someone in my guild with maxed out JC to craft me the epic necklace, as well as the epic ring), boots, and the staff/wand. Any other suggestions more than welcome

Upgrades you are currently working on:

I dinged 80 on saturday, so i must admit this current build cost me a fortune... I am currently grinding kirin tor (but i DO work and so limited time to run heroics....) after which I will grind wyrmrest and then Sons of Hodir/Ebon Blade.

All about you:
I am a newly dinged lock, with a marked preference for pve. I loved doing raids/10-mans in the BC and i am really looking fwd to seeing the new content. Didn't go any single instance while levelling, cause i just wanted to ding as early as possible, and I am sure that as in the BC, provided you are not ridiculously wearing BC greens, you can find a last min spot in a hero/10-man in the WOLTK. I had lots of the 'tier one' purples suggested in C'pimp's guide, which I have replaced (with lot of sadness...) only when i dinged 80.

Reputation is just baaad (see The World of Warcraft Armory). I am honored with kaluak, Ebon blade and Argent crusade, missing on obvious crucial factions for my items as a dps caster.... Would of course welcome views on prioritisation of which hero runs to focus on in terms of both rep grinding and potential drops.

My guild is now in Naxx10, they run two raids in the evening with DKP system (so first times I would go, if a spot is available, just to grind rep and build on dkp...).

Love affli, never even specced once in demo, was destro in BC (but alwys felt more of a affli lock even then).

To give an example of a run, in this Gun'drak run (WWS Loading...) I was told i did very little dps (but was equipped worse than 'today' (it was literally on saturday....) and did almost as bad as the tank. Re. rotation, read the guide and i just do not agree with starting with shadow bolt (always use coe and then corr, haunt, ua, immo and then spam of bolts). I do agree i did suck in that run (did not raid for the past kind of 3 months and was just used to kill low level mobs allone and/or with my loved void....) so I would not focus on those data, but I guess it would have helped. Once home, I will try and post also a UK hero I ran yesterday and did somewhat better (c. 200dps more).

Thanks a lot in advance for any suggestion you want to give me (also on how to progress).

ciao,
ale

Re: Suggestions for raiding

just a small responce from me, i would start working on you're sons of hodir asap, because its dailies to get rep (and now the rune's), so if you start afterwards, you have to wait longer for the shoulder enchant.

I can't comment on builts, because i never played affliction.

Re: Suggestions for raiding

Start grinding rep with Son's of Hodir for the Shoulder Enchants.

Argent Crusade have a nice ring with SP and Haste (Signet of Hopeful Light - Item - World of Warcraft you can buy at Exalted.

You can either get your rep up to revered with the Kirin Tor for Flameheart Spell Scalpel - Item - World of Warcraft or run DTK HC for Cursed Lich Blade - Item - World of Warcraft. Pair that up with Ward of the Violet Citadel - Item - World of Warcraft for 25 Heroic badges or Telestra's Journal - Item - World of Warcraft from Nexus HC.

Wyrmrest will sell you Sandals of Crimson Fury - Item - World of Warcraft at Exalted.

You could also start running Violet Hold HC. Cyanigosa drops Azure Cloth Bindings - Item - World of Warcraft , Mark of the War Prisoner - Item - World of Warcraft and Cyanigosa's Leggings - Item - World of Warcraft

Thanks S_Id.

Any views on what to focus on after getting the Sons of Hodir shoulder enchant?
I mean in terms of prioritisation.

thanks

Re: Suggestions for raiding

Although you say you haven't gone demonology in the past, the 0/41/30 FG/Emberstorm build is excellent for early raiding. It's very forgiving and does a decent amount of damage (I'm up to the mid 2k's in heroics now).

The first faction I ground with was Kiron Tor to get the excellent dagger. The first badge purchase I did was the neck. I had a couple of nice drops and my spell damage is 1600+ on wowarmory and 2200 with my Felguard and Fel Armor. I would say I've run less than a dozen instances so it doesn't take long to bump your numbers.

You've got a few items unenchanted so get them done (Icewalker for the boots is great). Don't forget you can always go back to Aldor / Scryer to get enchants as well until you have the Wrath of the Lich King rep. I don't know about the +250 mana on the chest as the super-stats is nice to have. Also, if you switch to 0/41/30, you get more Fel Armor boost from spirit.

Re: Suggestions for raiding

Thanks SnordCranston, even though I have never ever played demo in the past I might consider going for this build - just to give it a try - with that regard, I would love if anyone could suggest me an addon which would remember my key bindings.... so that going back to affli would be almost painless.

In heroics, right now, I am in the 1000s, which is clearly sub-par Maybe (maybe) working on it I might be able to put some 10% more with improved rotation etc, yet i am still appaled..... I hope, with some of the enchants I have seen on your gear, I can get to something like 1.3k spell damage (and being hit-capped the effect of more spell damage should be more visible, at least acc. to theorycrafting....).
Will go and 'farm' violet hold, as suggested and hope i get the rep with the kirin tor up as much as possible. On the other hand, I am not sure all the money i spent on gear will not be almost useless if the expansion progresses...

All other views/suggestions VERY welcome...

Re: Suggestions for raiding

I'd agree with SnordCranston, get the Tabard of The Kirin Tor and wear it in HC's.

There are 3 dailies for Wyrmrest which offer 750 rep in total and 2* for Argent Crusade which give 1100 rep, as far as I know, unless you're doing the Dalaran cooking Dailes, tabard is the only way to raise Kirin Tor rep.

*1 of these is actually a group of daily quests, if you complete them in under 20 minutes you get another daily which gives you 500 rep.

Just having a quick look through Wowhead, you can also get Arcanum of Burning Mysteries - Item - World of Warcraft form Kirin Tor Revered, so it's worth raising your rep with them even if you get the Cursed Lich Blade instead of the Flameheart Spell Scalpel.

I have used a number of different action bars with Bartender4 being the current one for my Warlock. However, I am using Bindpad for my hunter and death knight and would use it for my Warlock if I was starting over. It remembers key bindings when you switch specs and no longer have a spell available (ie. Siphon Life). If you respec back later, the binding will still be there. With bindpad looking after the bindings, I'm actually just using the standard action bars on my newer characters.
