Hit v Spell power
Unfortunately our DPS guru finally got around to assessing my gear and I now have my orders ![]() The saga! At present I am slightly over hitcap as juggling gear around. He thinks that I am at least 100 over cap. Whilst we usually have draenei in our raids I am not usually in their party. We have one raiding sp, and whilst he does keep misery up he doesn't raid very often. When I was raiding slightly under cap I noticed that haunt was missing because the boomkin wasn't keeping the hit debuff up. Trouble was I didn't notice it was missing so kept trying to reapply whilst on cd so end up missing potential dps time and totally messed up my dot uptime. Therefore I have arranged gear so that I am at cap without relying on others although this does put me over cap if I get all raid buffs. Gear Link The World of Warcraft Armory (talents do need tweeking) The guru's advice Lose hit gem, lose hit enchant, swap helm for the T7.5(which will use all my dkp preventing me getting other upgrades) to lose 104 spell hit. My thoughts I had been considering replacing all but the hit gem with +19sp gems. With two more emblems I can purchase the Wraps of the astral traveller, unless I get lucky with the unsullied cuffs. Would like to upgrade to the pennants cloak otherwise I'm considering the EoV (disguise of the kumiho) cloak. Robe and gloves could also be upgraded and the gear I am considering would bring enough hit to change the hit enchant to sp and hopefully lose the hit gem (gown of the spellweaver, Heigan's putrid vestments, or T7.5 robe.) So the question really is do I accept his advice or carry on with my plans? (not accepting his advice would be frowned upon by the guild powers that be.) The guru is another lock but doesn't play aff as it's too difficult and looking back over wws does miss up to 3% but his hybrid spec seems more tolerant of misses. Suggestions please ![]() Dommiel |

Re: Hit v Spell power
I agree with the guru on losing hit gems and hit chant, SP gems/chants are good, hit gems chants, not quite so good. As for spending your valuable DKP, looks like you are at the point where you have to decide what your final "best in slot" set-up is going to look like. I think you are going to have to take a hard look at your current gear and your possible upgrades and talents and decide exactly what hit rating you want to end up at. Then consider what gear will get you there, how easy.hard it will be for you to get and spend your DKP accordingly. If you let your guru/guild know you have such a plan and are spending DKP towards that goal they should relent. Only you can decide for yourself (and prevent forest fires) what that gear set-up will look like based on your typical raiding composition/talents/buffs. Its not a bad idea to carry an extra +hit ring or +hit trinket or +food around in case the spriest decides to not show or the boomkin gets lazy. If the +3% hit to raid debuffs are not being applied that's a major raid concern and far outweighs your individual gear choices. |

Re: Hit v Spell power
One other option (possibly) is to keep a few extra pieces of gear for the +Hit. If you find a lot of misses, add in more +Hit gear. And on a side note, the Draenei racial applies raid-wide.
