Problem's being over hit cap
I was wondering if it is bad to be over the hit cap besides the fact that you could instead use other gear or gems to get more sp? With the new weapon I got I will be one point below the hit cap with gear (367 hit) so I would have to use food to reach the hit cap but then I would be quite a bit over. Does anyone ever get perfectly at 368 without going over? Or would it be better to just stay at one point below hit cap and eat +sp food? Sorry if this has been asked before but I tried looking through the other hit threads and didn't see it addressed.

Re: Problem's being over hit cap
If it were me I would eat the SP food and not worry about the 1 point under cap. Being 1 point under cap means you have an approximately 0.04% chance to miss. |

Re: Problem's being over hit cap
Agreed, 1 point of hit is not worth the 46 SP from food buff. I have trouble with this also, and ended up realizing that any point over the hit cap is a completely wasted stat point. I had a situation last week with a new piece of gear where i was going to be about 3 points under the hit cap without regemming, or 5 points over the hit cap with a new gem that would replace a SP/Spir gem (i think that was it, dont remember exactly the scenario). What i determined is that if i were to regem i would only receive benefit from 3 of the 8 points of hit in the gem, so the real comparison was between 3 hit and 8-9 SP. The 8-9 SP is more of a dps increase than the 3 hit. Hit has become a real issue for me as well, having to balance right at the cap to maximize can be very expensive. The one thing to always remember is that every point beyond the cap is completely worthless. So only count the points of hit that will actually bring you to the cap, not the total hit on the gear or gem. |

Re: Problem's being over hit cap
One thing, hit capped depends on raid composition as well. My hit is at 310 (with 3 points in Cataclysm) and I never miss on boss fights. I cannot see your stats, but if you have 3 points in suppression and in your raids, you have a Boomkin or a Shadow Priest (good chance in 25 man), your hit cap is 289 (it is 263 for me being Alliance and almost always having a Draenei in the raid). If I were you, I would be shooting more for 289 range and not the 368 range or take points out of suppression. If you are in doubt, look at WWS reports (boss fights only as trash may not get Faerie Fire). Maybe carry a +hit piece of gear just in case you don't have a Boomkin (*shudder* "Please cast COE"). |

Quote:
Yeah I have my set up to be 17% - 1% draenei - 3% talent - 3% UDK for only needing 10% on gear, which i'm still a little over on but have nothing better to switch out with others atm. |

Re: Problem's being over hit cap
Ok right now I do have the 3 points in supression. It seems that while doing 25 man raids there will always be a boomkin or shadow priest so I could probably even have below 368 and still be ok. Thanks so much. I'm doing 25 man naxx tonight and now I know I can quit worrying about hit so much and start working on getting more sp and other stats. |

Sinister, I'm pretty sure Ebon Plaguebringer is only an equal to curse of elements and doesn't effect hit percentage. So only the Spriest and Boomkin are gunna help you to there. |

Re: Problem's being over hit cap
i've always wondered what the comfort zone is on hit rating. with 1 point from being fully capped is 0.4%, what is a good range to be at? patch 3.1 wants me to put points in a tree i dont' use, so by being in a comfortable hit rating zone would let me pour three points into something like improved immolate. |

Re: Problem's being over hit cap
My hit rating is at 506 which is WAY over the cap The World of Warcraft Armory I'm thinking its the trinket i'm using , wondering what my options would be to replace that extra hit with something else to produce more dps. |
