i know the hit cap, i only got the staff that gives massive amount of hit then logged out without stuffing around with rebalancing my hit rating from the near 500 hit that it was when i logged in this morning. Fair enough on the comments besides that, I was just looking for some pointers not an actual attack and accusing me of not actually doing any leg work. I was just wanting to get pointed in the right direction so i knew were to look to GET information needed rather than being accused of being lazy. Ive read EJ and all that jazz and i know that stuff about the hit cap etc, just looking for some help in a part that I find very confusing to start with. Please be helpful in your replies and not being derogitory or accusing me of being lazy. Thank you |

My apologies if I came across as hard, but what else can you expect when you ask for hit related advice while wearing more than 18%? First, set a target. While people are telling you to gear for hit on the assumption that your spriest or moonkin is dead, that's a pessimistic approach. Look at your raid and decide what your goal is. And don't forget about Draeni's group buff. Next, get there! Swap some gear around and get to that level of hit. Don't toss your old hit pieces either, as that's most of the key to this whole thing. Now you have some leg work in front of you. What I generally do is pull up Bakka's spreadsheet and load myself, hit-capped, into it. Do a gear sort and you'll have everything sorted ignoring hit. Now you can't just trust these rankings, but you have to look for yourself. Anything that is ranked higher and has hit is a strict upgrade over your current item for that slot. I generally always carry around a few hit pieces that I can swap at will. Currently it's boots, wand, and ring. That lets me bounce my hit around to suit either a changing raid makeup or a new item I get. If you want to dig into the numbers and evaluate hit in depth, read this post. It's a rundown of how to determine best-in-slot hit gear by comparing dps lost to hit gained. It's fairly simple to set up and you can use this to compare gear you already have with gear you are considering rolling on.

Thank you very much for your help with this. I have got a load of spare hit gear and am looking to swap out some of my PvP gear (which is sadly use in my raiding, till I get better) for gear with more useful stats for my build. I will throw my figures into that spread sheet after work today and see where it ends up so that I can make some educated or informed decisions on what to roll on and what not to roll on in Naxx/Uld/OS. Thanks again. |

Re: Issues with stat weighing etc..
I always assume 3% from either of our 2 spriests that are in the raid every night and rarely die unless its a wipe. If you can depend on that then tehre is no sense in wasting gear to compensate for it. Put hit equal to spell power when looking for gear with hit on it. Best thing to do ia make a gear list of what your bis is when you get there, never compromise hit and never taking any other stat over spell power, i have yet to see a sim craft showing haste equal to sp. |

Re: Issues with stat weighing etc..
Yes I also always have 1-3 Sprists/duel spec priests that are willing to switch to provide the bonus tot eh raid as a whole so count on that 3% always being there unless it's a wipe as they tend to go down near the last and because there are several to 'carry the torch' it is made harder to break. Thanks again everyone for your input and assistance with this, it is greatly appreciated. |

I like to aim for 406 hit (446 with hit food) and should there be a hit talent present i'll switch food to spell power and one or two pieces to land on 368 hit. As someone else mentioned eariler, dont be too eager to destroy your old gear when you recive upgrades; you want to have a decent selection of gear to switch back and forth so you can maintain hitcapped while making the most of your other stats. It's from the OP of the simcraft thread on EJ. Haste is very nice for destro. These values are for high-end gear though and might be slightly different for the rest of us. |
