I saw some disccusion in another thread (rate the warlock above you gear) about glyphs so I thought I'd bring a 3.2 post over here to continue it. The 3 Destro glyphs come from an option of these 4: Incinerate Immolate Conflag Life Tap Currently the top 3 glyphs are: Conflag (you can't have immolate droping every conflag) Incinerate (This is your spam spell uping its damage is a must) Life Tap (Increases SP) The first 2 should be fairly obvious as to why you select them. The third is new because before 3.2 we'd been using Immolate. However a 10% damage boost to 785 damage. This means an extra.. 78.5 damage over 15 seconds. The new Life Tap glyph is 20% of your spell power for 40 seconds. This adds to Fel Armor. This means with Life Tap always up, its every 40seconds I mean really you cast CoD almost as often and you always could use the mana you gain 50% of your spirit as SP. My little lock has 540 (Okay so I rounded up, deal) Spirit, half of that is 270 SP. Fel Armor only grants me 162 SP of that. This means LT is adding 118 SP. 118 SP over the entire rotation adds up to more than 78.5 damage. I mean CB alone during LT up time is 102.89% damage mod, that 118 SP equals 121 more damage, from just one spell. You get the boost to ALL your spells. |

Yes, you basically have it right. The immolate glyph is only better than the incinerate glyph if you aren't expecting raid buffs. But in a raid buffed situation where your getting around a 50% crit rate on incinerates, Glyph of Incinerate is the better choice between the two. |

Re: Destro Glyphs
Isn't it 3:1 Spirit:Spellpower? |

No fel armor is 30% of spirit as SP. The LT glyph is 20% of sp. These affects stack resulting in 50%. Commonly we say 3:1 Spirt:SP. However 30% is not 1/3, it is slightly lower often not a large deal but on a larger scale you'd expect a significant amount of SP increase over what you'd actually recieve. I also stated that our 3 glyphs should be: Conflag LT Incinerate so dyson your comment confuses me. |

Re: Destro Glyphs
Although the destro spec has 39% spirit into sp because of Demonic Aegis. |

Which glyphs you choose does sometimes depend on your own stats because if someone has say 800 spirit, whereas the other has 500 spirit, that first person will get more dps out of the LT glyph. However the value of spirit rises with the glyph, so once you have it spirit does become more important. On average i get around 400-500 spell power raid buffed from my glyph and fel armour. So it's certainly worth it for me. But having said that i still think it's a must especially with the glyph change. I recently changed my immolate glyph for incinerate, before i had conflag/immolate/Life tap. There was a large debate about this but im pretty happy with what i have now. I'd rather have the boost to the spell which does the most damage. |

Conflag's damage is connected to immo, thus, Glyph of Immolate also affects Conflagrates damage as well. |

Re: Destro Glyphs
Glyphs of choice for all variations of deep destro are; - Glyph of incinerate - Glyph of Conflag - Glyph of LT Yes, the differences between the glyph of LT and Immo are very small. Nevertheless, glyph of LT provides more dps if kept up correctly. |

while the 40 sec duration on GoLT certainly helps, please remember that Theorycrafting min/max's uptime of things like the LT glyph buff, thus, as Benituccio states that if LT is kept up throughout the encounter then it will indeed be a slight dps increase over GoI, however, there are many instances where this is not the case. The most obvious being:
This is easily done and will dramatically reduce the benefit of the glyph. Other examples might be:
Compare this to Glyph of Immolates passive buff nature and suddenly the distinction of dps increase becomes blurred. |
