Ello forum, Last night guild had a particularly successful sprint through ToC 25, and I lucked out on my first trophy. I currently have 2 T8.5 conquerors (helm & chest), 1 T8.25 legs, and 2 T9 232 conquest (shoulders & gloves). The questions are as follows:
I still need to buy the triumph ring (and possibly wand). My haste is currently a bit lower than I'd like (around 380), but should be improving that in a while with crafted slippers and belt (think that's an exchange of 120 crit for similar haste plus extra sockets over the TotC25 crit belt and crackling flame boots i'm using now). Cheers in advance for responses - a bit stuck on this one. |

Re: Have one trophy - need advice on what item to spend it on.
There is no "T8.25", there's Tier 8 (219) and Tier 8.5 (226). Replace the legs: it's your weakest Tier piece, it won't alter your hit rating and it won't break up your existing set bonuses. You do need the ring and wand... the wand would put you right on top of the hit cap with more than enough extra spirit and SP to make up for the small haste loss, and the ring is practically BiS for a warlock 245 item. Keep grinding dailies and running ToC and VoA and you'll be able to buy those soon enough. Don't necessarily count on Vault runs for Tier tokens, I was even running my own pugs for a while to make sure I was the only warlock and I have only ever won a single item from there, one of the Valorous 213 pieces. |

Re: Have one trophy - need advice on what item to spend it on.
There is no right and wrong answer. Have a look at the stats on each one and use an addon like rhadatip to work out which is the biggest upgrade. Also make use of the item comparison tool that Blizzard provides. I personally chose the helm for my first trophy but this is because i only raid 10man and trophies are fairly rare to see. Though i did manage to win two trophies from pugs so you don't know what's going to happen. I then chose the shoulders because i would like to have the crafted chest by Icecrown and the legs and gloves i will hopefully pick up either through VoA or badges. Either way, i would have had to choose the shoulders for my second in order to make it worth using a crafted chest (which it is). Have a think about how you would like your gear to look once the new patch arrives. Are there any non-tier items that could potentially be better? I happened to win some nice non-tier legs from a pug which are much better itemised than the triumph ones (spirit instead of crit). I think for you, the legs seem a good option though 75 badges is quite steep, especially since you don't have the ring or wand. If you can get plenty of badges though, then yes the legs seem like a good choice. |

I run a simcraft of my current gear to get my personal stat ratings. I then take all the items I am considering for upgrade and the item I want to upgrade to. I then multiply my stat rating by the resultant increase (add)/decrease (subtract) for that upgrade. I do that for all the items I am considering. Whichever one has the highest value is the winner. Be sure to take the set bonus for whatever tier into account. |

Cheers for the advice. I'm currently sat with oodles of hit (436 or so ~ 16%) - but never had a chance to replace kit with items with no hit on (they were inferior on spell power & usually other stats also). Can justify the hit because we have raided currently with little caster support - we're working on that. Apologies on the T8, it is valorous plagueheart leggings - was at work, so couldn't check. Ring is probably biggest upgrade along with leggings. I'm not swimming in badges, but can put some time in this week to pick up some. Will aim to replace hit with haste, but guess tis useful having hit pieces in case we end up with no boomkin & sp. |

I would certainly recommend playing with WoWhead profiler. Make an account, make custom profiles and run each through simcraft and see what dps figures you get. The item comparison tool is also useful when you can't really be bothered to run loads of profiles too. |

well... while the den mainly adapted the 8 and 8.5 names, it's quite common in other places to refer to the sets as tier 8.10 and tier 8.25 to indicate type of instance where they drop (10 vs. 25 player). @topic just by looking at the ilvls, it's clear that the legs would be the biggest upgrade, plus you don't loose any set bonus there. If you prefer betting on a VoA drop for the legs, you can either go for the head or chest, I'd probably suggest the head since there's such a nice crafted chest (Merlin's robe) and also one or two very good chest drops in ToC 25. |

Re: Have one trophy - need advice on what item to spend it on.
Go for the legs and if you want a 4th T9 go for head if you could be hit-capped without T9 chest. Swapping to merlin robe is a huge hit lost so you need to check what hit gear you'll have to swap. merlin robe is a 100 dps gain over T9 chest if you are hit capped. So you have to ensure that you won't loose 100 dps by using other item with hit. |

Re: Have one trophy - need advice on what item to spend it on.
I see the OP has a demonology spec. Not so sure whether putting points into suppression is a dps loss for demo locks but i know for destro it isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes you just can't always juggle your gear around a certain hit cap, hence the reason for suppression. Imp. soul leech is an optional talent, i myself prefer to have it but if i manage to get hold of the merlin's robe and have no hit gear to replace i'll happily spec into suppression as our ret pally provides replenishment anyway. |
