3.2 Emblems of Conquest, now what?

What should I buy next? I have 49 emblems of conquest and already have purchased the t8 head and chest as well the purchasable waist and legs. Are there any worthwhile items to buy down grading my emblems or should I just buy orbs?

BTW - how do I include tooltip links in a post so I can refer to my actual gear?

It looks like you have the T8 head and chest piece, but you don't have the T8 legs or another T8 piece. It does look like you have a T9 badge gear, so at the moment, it might just be best to get the T9 badge shoulder piece since you don't have a T8 shoulder piece.

Having a T8 and T9 bonus set isn't a bad idea since you only have 2 pieces of T8, and 1 piece T9.

The only problem I see is that the T9 badge gear isn't that much of an upgrade except the possibility of a T9 2 set bonus.

I definitely have my eye on the t9 shoulders that I can purchase with triumph badges. The remaining three t8 pieces are all drops right?

But what do I do with my conquest badges? As I mentioned I already purchased the non-tier legs and waist and the neck piece doesn't look like an upgrade to the brilliant hailstone amulet.

Re: Emblems of Conquest, now what?

Since your a tad low on hit I would get the Ward of the Violet Citadel(25 Emblems of Heroism), and if you can get some hit from elsewhere replace your current neck with Evoker's Charm(19 Emblems of Conquest)

I've always been a fan of going with the item that needs the most upgrade.

As of now, you have 6 i200 items (excluding trinkets)...ring, held, wrist, neck, shoulders, wand.

Of those only wand is not available for conquest or lower badges.

That leaves us with the following:

Neck: Evoker's Charm - 19 EoC
Ring: Band of Channeled Magic - 25 EoV
Wrist: Wraps of the Astral Traveler - 60 EoV
Held: Ward of the Violet Citadel - 25 EoH
Shoulders: Mantle of the Lost Conqueror - 60 EoV - which trades for - Valorous Plagueheart Shoulderpads

So normally, I'd say go for the toughest or biggest upgrade. Shoulders are usually hard for me, so I'm happy to spend badges on them. The shoulders are an upgrade for you -- and only 11 badges away. Having said that, they're a moderate upgrade (+26ish according to the EJ stat weights) not a big upgrade considering it is 60 badges -- and if you're doing the daily heroic on a regular basis and/or doing ToCr 10/25 you can get the KT Shoulderpads of Conquest for 30 EoTs. So I'd recommend holding off on that.

The wraps of the astral traveler are a nice upgrade and about as good as anything that you'd get doing Nax25 -- but they're 60 EoV -- which seems a lot. -- for an upgrade of 19ish.

Here's where I get a little stuck with what should be the best upgrade for you -- and you'll have to think about this a bit.

The Evoker's Charm is probably your best upgrade (+ 47ish)..but you may not be hitcapped for raids. If you don't raid and only run 5 mans, this is not a problem. If you run with a Draenei in raids this is not likely a problem.

You could rectify this by taking both the Evoker's Charm and the Ward of the Violet Citadel...but then you're replacing one i200 item (faces of doom) with another i200 item (Ward of the Violet Citadel) and the Ward of the Violet Citadel is actually a net loss of about 40, rather than an upgrade.

The band of Channeled Magic is also a decent upgrade -- but really gives you a modest increase in SP (+6) and Int (+6) at the cost of a modest decrease in haste (-6) and Sta but a big boost in spirit....for a total of 32ish.

Bottom line -- if you run with a Draenei -- or if you only do 5-mans, take the evoker's charm. If you raid and you don't have a Draenei in your raid almost 100% of the time, you probably want to take the Band of Channeled Magic.

Edit: As of the time of the original post, I was under an incorrect assumption (my fault) that the OP was hit capped for raid bosses. He is not. As such, the only valid upgrade it the one that gets him closer to the hit cap. The Ward of the Violet Citadel.

I was just looking at off-hands, Off-Hand Comparisons

I do own a telestra journal which provides 1 more hit the violet citadel but have the faces of doom equipment since it is better for DPS. Is the violet citadel a worthwhile compromise between hit and DPS?

The Evoker's Charm does look like a nice upgradeNeck Comparisons if I can get buy with the loss of 25+ hit I could get from the Brilliant Hailstone.

I initially didn't consider either of these options since rawr didn't list them as upgrades so thanks for pointing them out.

Edit - The above response was before I saw Darvenof's reply. I am 11 triumph badges away from the t9 shoulders so should have them in 6 days. I am trying to get to the point where I get invited to raids so it is just 5mans and pugs for now.

Re: Emblems of Conquest, now what?

Spend your emblems on Ward of the Violet Citadel. You need hit rating something fierce and Ward of the Violet Citadel is one of the best values in badge gear

Gear/gem for hit rating, then spellpower, then haste. Get hit-capped plain and simple. Don't gear for crit because haste is better for you and you'll get plenty of crit from raid buffs.

Also, forget RAWR - it isnt helpful for warlocks and has no active warlock developer on it.

Instead, get and use RhadaTip. Written by a warlock, it is a simply fantastic gear evaluator for warlocks. Far better than RAWR and usable in-game. There is also a thread HERE on Elitist Jerks about it.

Re: Emblems of Conquest, now what?

Sorry -- I've had my head on sideways....because my character is in his PVP gear and I never can remember if the tool-tip takes suppression into account or not (it does). Having said that, you need hit rating like someone who is drowning needs air.

I agree with the comments of Zuke -- get yourself the Ward of the Violet Citadel immediately if not before.

With your spec you need 368 hit rating to be capped vs. raid bosses -- you have 304. The ward will push that 342 but you will need to make up for the remaining 26 points with gems. If your goal is to get invited to raids, you need to get hit capped.

I'd also recommend continuing to farm H-ToC every day. You could pick up Sinner's Confession (ring) and Kurisu's Indecision (back) -- which are +44 hit rating each!

I think I will switch back to Telestra's Journal which has +1 hit over the Ward of the Violet Citadel. If I regem my necklace with a +20 hit gem that will get me 5 below the cap or I could just use Choker of Spiral Focus, take the crit hit and not regem. So if I do all that then I will probably start saving for Wraps of the Astral Traveler .

I also do have my eye on the two items from H-ToC, they just havent dropped for me. I think they are the only real upgrades I could get from 5mans...other then the hit trinket in VH.

That's not a bad way to go. I do love the Ward of the Violet Citadel, however-- party because there aren't a lot of upgrades for it until a good bit later -- at least Nax25. I would recommend hanging on to your present trinkets for a while -- even if you are equipping the VH one for hit. They're good trinkets unless you're getting good drops in Nax25 or higher.
