Help me to stick out from the crowd
Hey guys im a bit stuck i was wondering if someone could help me with gear etc etc im sitting around 2900 - 3200 dps in raids and heroics i would love to be up around 4k My main spec : Hybrid Cast Sequence : Curse of agony, Corruption, Life Tap,Immolate, Incinerate, Incinerate,Incinerate, Incinerate,Incinerate ... rinse and repeat then under 35% soul fire with either incinerate or SB Thanks Wilkoo

You have lower level enchants which can be upgraded to give you some more spellpower (wrists/mh) and work on getting your Sons of Hodir rep up to exalted for the shoulder enchant. Replace your gems with epic quality ones and don't gem for Crit. Lifetap before starting your rotation as the spellpower buff will be applied to Curse of Agony and Corr. As for the soul fire execute I don't know why you would cast shadow bolt when you haven't spec'd for it so don't consider it. Just weave your incinerates with your soul fire. |

Another "tell me how to play good" post. Forgive me for being blunt but we get a lot of these. Your stats are unbalanced. Far too much hit, not enough haste. It looks like you got some advice from someone who hasn't played a lock since BC who told you to stack crit and stamina. Why do you have Icewalker instead of the spirit enchant on your boots when you're 40 points over the hit cap? Why do you have the hit enchant on your gloves when you're 40 points over the hit cap? Get rid of that terrible darkmoon card and farm the abyssal rune from 5ToC asap. You can do the instance as many times a day as you need to, and you need to. Your gemming is wrong, even if you have to stick to less expensive gems than the new epics because of your budget. Fine, so with your total lack of haste I can see why you'd be tempted to put some sp + haste gems in your sockets, but stamina? You have the wrong leg embroidery, again stamina. There is more to learning to play a class than the "correct rotation" you're supposed to use, you have to understand how everything works and how your talent tree works the way it does. You have to maximize your gear with the correct gems and enchants and learn what bonuses to keep and ignore. There is a wealth of info on this site and I suggest you start reading. In addition to the above posts you probably want to switch the conflag glyph you have on your 41/30 spec since you don't have conflag. I would suggest felguard. |

You have alot of research to do. Yes we can help you directly, but i certainly didn't learn by posting like this, i learnt from reading the Elitist Jerks affliction warlock thread (was affli at the time), so do some reading. Cursalock is right, all your gems are wrong, you have far too much hit rating. There are plenty of items out there you can obtain that you don't have and would help you massively, such as the Abyssal rune trinket and also several items for triumph badges you need to save for including the wand, ring and another piece of T9. You can also buy legs for conquest badges, which are way better than the T7 ones you have. Never gem for crit and stamina, or spirit and stamina...completely wrong gems to use. Go all epic on your gems and get your enchants sorted. Get the better shoulder enchant, get the better weapon enchant, go for the +30 sp glove enchant, get a brilliant spellthread for your legs, get the tuskarrs vitality enchant for the boots and max out your enchanting so you can get enchants on your rings. |

Thank you all very much for your help. it has helped me sort my gems out ( what a difference that made ) and with a few more TOC runs (thanks Cursalock ) i hopefully will be on my way from a average lock to somewhere close to you guys  I WISH ... plenty of reading to do .. so once agin thanks for your guiding hand.Matty |
