3.2 Help I can't seem to get away from hit rating!

OK, here is my question, (current gear linked from armory). I just replaced Firesoul, Leviathan Fueling Manual, Rainments of the Corrupted, and Valorous Deathbringer Leggings with gear from TotGC (Polished Azuresong Mageblade, Symbol of Transgression, Skyweaver Robes, and Leggings of the Deepening Void), my stats with only fel armor are as follows; SP 2789, Hit 559, crit 22.63%, haste 344. should i switch back to some of the older gear, put haste gems in instead of the SP ones, or what? Any suggestions will help, I have not even been looking at hit as a stat for a while yet i cant seem to get away from getting it. I am doing ok with my dps, i seem to average about 4.5K on most fights. So far the tools i use to look at my gear and enchants are equipcompare in game, rawr (from the EJ site) and the tool at Be Imba! - the online Character Auditor for World of Warcraft to consider gems, and enchant choices, lets also not forget the WoW gem finder web site. So far most of the best suggestions i get are from my guild-mates, but they are even getting stumped with this problem.

So all in all what I am asking is what can i do to reduce the hit rating i have and increase haste, sp and spirit stats without sacrificing the new gear that i have acquired?

Re: Help I can't seem to get away from hit rating!

I don't see that there's anything you have with your current gear that can reduce your hit other than replacing icewalker on your boots, which would be fairly pointless. I would advise to take another look at your trinkets. You'd probably do better to get a trinket like the Abyssal Rune, Illustration of the Dragon Soul, Eye of the Broodmother, or even the Sundial of the Exiled. If you replaced your +hit trink (and the Necro trink too, which sounds a lot better than it is) with any of these, you could make up the difference through gear choice and gems.

Any one of those trinkets +regemming should give you an edge over the current set up.

iv noticed that alot of the new ToC gear has hit on it. im currently using the suppression build atm cuz theres no boomkins for spriests in our raid. so for me getting alot hit may not be a bad thing so i can spec outa that. but for locks who have a +hit buff i can see this being a prob...

hehe, german armory... so fun, but I'm so happy that I play on an english server :D

Anyways, here comes my professional tip:

Get some gear without hit rating to replace (upgrade) some of those items with hit rating.

Yeah... I bet you wonder how intelligent I must be to immediately draw this ingenious conclusion.

Anyways, I think fiz has pointed out the most straightforward solution to your problem, namely replacing the hit trinklet with one of those suggested (and two of them can really be obtained within just one day of farming). Also looking at your gear there's quite a few low ilvl items that still can use upgrades, e.g. head, gloves, wrists, where you could loose some hit rating.

A few of your gems are strange (e.g. stamina), but the rest seems ok. Don't rely too much on gearing tools... they usually are limited to judge based on certain aspects only, while you often have to consider more input, e.g. hit cap, overall stat balance, set boni etc

There's lot of alternatives available for emblems/crafted to balance either a lack of hit or an excess of it:

Hood of Clouded Sight vs Hood of Smoldering Aftermath
Mantle of Revered Mortality vs Pauldrons of Catastrophic Emanation
Merlin's Robe vs Gul'dan's Robe of Triumph

I think that ToC actually offers a pretty decent balance of hit/non-hit items. Far better than Naxx, where you pretty much had to rely on a trinket.
