3.3 Trinkets?

What is the common consensus on trinkets. Is it double Haste with H DFO and H CTS or is it H PotNL + H CTS the better choice. I would imagine that double haste is what you want as affliction but I keep getting beat by the other affliction lock with similar gear and he has H DFO and H PotNL? Help please.

Re: Trinkets?

Haste > crit

Essentially you get a more static DPS increase since haste is worth much more DPS then crit.

I don't know how the value differs for the PotNL and the CTS SP buff uptime.

3.3 Compendium - Elitist Jerks

Look at the trinket rankings.

Re: Trinkets?

For demo hc dfo and hc cts for sure. As affliction I`d rather keep phylactary. It`s hard enough rolling corruption as it is.
But that`s purely speculation, no numbers to back it up

Please look at the link I provided instead of speculating, all the numbers are there for all the speccs.

Firstly, that list doesn't include the Charred Twilight Scale that the OP is asking about.

More importantly though, those are the simc scores for BIS gear, and WILL BE DIFFERENT IN DIFFERENT GEAR. Sorry for shouting, but that's pretty much the most important thing to grasp about simc results. If someone on EJ posts simc results for a particular gear set, then they should follow for you only if you're in the same gear. Even more variety is introduced in the options, particularly latency, patchwerk v helter skelter, buffs and debuffs, fight length, etc. As just one example, the value of crit tends to rise dramatically with increasing latency.

For the OP this means two things:

1. You're only going to know which trinket is better if you run your own sims based on the typical conditions that you're interested in and your own gear.

2. Be wary of the advice of folks who point to other people's simc results and claim they are relevant.

A final point: It won't make as much difference as you hope. Both trinkets are great, both will increase your dps, the difference between them will be lost in random noise. If one player consistently beats another at a similar gear level, it's ALL about how they play.

1: He isn't asking about H CTS, he is asking about h DFO vs H phylactery.

2: They are relevant, if not 100% similar to the results he would be getting.

For the 55/0/16 specc there's a 203 dps difference between H DFO and H phylactery, seeing as haste is so incredibly superior to crit for aff I doubt you'd be able to get a realistic gear setup that makes phylactery a better choice.
