So I have been raiding with my guild for about 8 months and last night an item in BWD came up for grabs that was better than my current item. I was equipped with: Corlas Baton Corla's Baton - Item - World of Warcraft and this came up:Finkles mixer upper Finkle's Mixer Upper - Item - World of Warcraft When I asked for the drop (no one else wanted to it was going to DisEnch) the raid leader told me it was a healer wand and not for me. Even though replacing would have meant a + on all stats apart from Hit (which I could reforge for). Anyway, I got it, and have now equipped it. Was I wrong to do this? Also, they were moaning about people having PvP gear on instead of all PvE, but in my eyes if the gear gives enough stats increase then why not use it? OR again, a, I wrong in this assumption? Your thoughts would be appreciated, here is my profile link: Fenchurch @ Magtheridon - Game - World of Warcraft Thanks! |

Re: PvPvEvNot Specific 'Lock gear
That is a Healer wand but imo its an ok wand for locks since the BiS wand for 4.1 was a boe drop from BWD that has a low drop rate. Also if the RL is complaining about PVP gear in PVE then imo wat you did was ok because you rolled for a PVE item. I could see this being an issue if one of the priest healers wanted but since no1 wanted i dont see why there would be a problem since it was an upgrade. |

IMHO- Wands are (or actually were) sorta hard to comeby in the earlyish days so I can see the temptation. I waited for the spellcaster one to drop, and I never saw it in all of my runs. I ended up using the Z troll wand (I forgot it's name). You can get a pretty good one with cheap VP now, and that is what I use. The Finkle wand is certainly a healer oriented twig but in the short run it is ok to use it, esp. if they wwere just going to DE it. The developers have (again IMHO) left the idea of wands in the dust. Wands are not super important in the casters make-up, I wouldn't critisize a caster for a reasonably under-pointed wand. Heck as I said, I used the Troll make. (In order to get cata superior achieve I bought the PVP wand and then immediately traded it back in). I wish that the developers would let people (enchanters for instance), make their own wands, even perhaps having interesting effects. Sadly, casters rarely use their wands in combat (except when they are out of mana or depending on the boss fight). It would be neat for a wand capable of changing targets to frogs, apes, and such like mages can. A lot of fun stuff can be done with wands. As for using PVP gear for raids, that is what some players do (I don't but I don't fault them either), when there is a new expansion. With the way Blizzard is tight- fisted on their gear drop, I can see why some players use PVP gear for PVE. When they put 10 mans and 25mans on the same lock out, the rate of gear drop, and the rate of VPs dramatically dropped for most players.

Re: PvPvEvNot Specific 'Lock gear
pvp gear will not get you hit capped or remotely close to it. just as showing up in arena in all pve gear would likely get you steamrolled and/or laughed at, your performance will never be close to what a full pve set would give you. the reason for the annoyance on the part of your RL may be because it's not too much to ask for people to come prepared for the content. not farming a full pve set and asking to raid is in most people's minds greedy and impatient. we all had to grind our gear, why should this guy get to roll in without putting the same work in? I think the anger stems from a big influx of terribad players who want to come to BH...but don't know where BH is. They want to kill shannox....but they haven't bothered to watch a video or read a strat. I've encountered people who don't know what the dungeon journal is. point being, when you show up appearing clueless or in any way unprepared, others feel slighted for actually putting in the work. |

Re: PvPvEvNot Specific 'Lock gear
Sadly, some players/raiders are too lazy. If they are coming into a raid wearing PVP gear, they have at least put some effort somewhere, at least in PVPland. Now PUGs are a different matter, RL Beware! Usually explanations before a boss pull is really worth it- make sure everyone is on the same page. Most of the time there are different strats, raid markings, etc...

Re: PvPvEvNot Specific 'Lock gear
You are not wrong on any of your statements. If an item is an upgrade for you, and no one else wants it, of course you should have it. It's going to benefit the group anyway, and that's most important. Regarding PvP gear; i have been wearing pvp dagger for ages, because I was really unlucky with drops in raids.Never seen the caster weapon drop from Magmaw. The pvp one was a massive upgrade from what I had before, so of course i use that. |

I couldn't tell you the last time I ran ZA/ZG and didn't have one of the two wands drop, pick up one of them. I also hope you're not using that spell penetration/resilience neck piece I see on Armory for PvE, you have access to better through Dragonmaw rep, for example, whom you are exalted with. Re: PvPvEvNot Specific 'Lock gear
Thanks everyone for your opinions, very interesting to hear what people think. Cursalock I have taken your advice about the pendant, and will try to farm ZA/ZG more, although I always seem to get rubbish PUG groups - will try to get some guildies together instead. As for Hit, I used to always make sure I was 100% but read on here somewhere about whether 100% hit really matters, I currently have a 0.5% chance of miss, one in 200 casts, so I wonder if that makes much difference. Either way, I can reforge to hit the cap if needed. With regards to Raiding, I'm not always the best, but I always make sure I am as prepared as I can be with ench's, pots, and reading up on the tactics, plus our RL's are all really helpful at explaining tact's for those who don't read up before hand. |

It's all about the stats. Nobody expects to ever use them and the stats are all that matter. |

Re: PvPvEvNot Specific 'Lock gear
it's preferred to have about .5% to about 1.24% chance to miss if it's able to be spent on jamming more int or even haste. As for the neck piece suggestion earlier, I'd also like to add that once you get inside the molten front, you can pick up that neck as well. slightly better than the rep one and infinitely better than a spell pen one for PvE. |
