The true arsenal of a Warlock
Hi, I know we have been talking a lot before, about what a warlock should wear as weapons.... - However I think we should discuss it again, and hear what your favorite weapon will be! How IS "the true arsenal" supposed to be? - Also maybe hear some of the testers about the experience with some of the weapons(staves, daggers, wands, swords) they have tryed with their warlocks(or other class with warlock alike weapons). -----HERE is what I have found out on these weapons so far---- The Wand - A ranged nuking weapon with infinite ammo, does pretty high damage, moderate cooldown. that makes about 20dps at level 30. A good weapon that doesnt require training. - An interesting irritation however could be, that it requires the player to click all the time when attacking with it, insteed of autofiring!!(hope this will change) The Dagger - A quick close combat weapon that does some of the highest base dps than any other 1-handed weapon, because of the low cooldown. It deals low initial damage has a low cooldown. It deals about 28-30 dps at level 30. Also the dagger doesnt require training. ---The problem with the dagger could be when fighting monsters with damage reduction, which make the aleredy low damage even lower. ---ex. a dagger that deals 5-7damage over 1 sek faces a monster with damage reduction on 4. Deals then only 1-3damage, and over 10sek it then is 10-30damage - while ex. a hammer dealing 10-14 over 2 sek. Does 6-10 against the monster, and over 10 sek. it deals 30-50 damage. see the picture, so it matters extremely much how the monsters damage reduction is! The Staff: This slow attacking but high damage dealer, is twohanded, and it is also potential of having magic abilities on it, while extra attributes for a caster type. Does about 30dps as the dagger, but has over double initial damage. Requires training. The Sword - The one handed sword is a damage dealer and has about the same dps as a dagger, but a slower cooldown and higher initial damage...however not as high as the staff. Requires training!(I wonder if its worth using the training points on this weapon, if you want melee onehanded instead of a dagger!!!) ----------- My warlock would be using a wand!! However can someone confirm that the warlock would be able to carry a dagger at the same time? Or is there a quick way of skipping against them? If not I might work a wand at ranged, and then shift to dagger in melee. :p - Also I think the item orb or shadow orb sound cool, any idea how they will fit into the character :?: (maybe off-hand) Sorry to write so much reading  |

With reguards to carrying a dagger at the same time as a Wand, and beta members please correct me if I am wrong, but I read somewhere that wands are a range item slot so won't take up a primary melee spot ie : where your dagger would be. So in theory yes you should be able to carry both.

Ok -->You have a main slot for your primary weapon, such as a dagger or sword. Second you have a offhand which cant be used with weapons for a warlock(due to dual wield)--> but insteed for torch or orbs(knows anything?) Third you have a ranged slot for wands(also bows?).... Can you see this ranged slot when not attacking? :D :D

Well I'm not in beta so if another member would like to correct me / help me out please... but from my experiences in EQ and reading about WoW it most likely will be something like this : If using 1 handed weapon : Primary (or main hand) will be your weapon of choice ~ Dagger, Sword, etc Secondary (or off hand) ~ will be a torch for a class like us, perhaps a shield for other classes Range ~ for us will most likely be a wand or something, however other classes might have arrow's or ammo there. Primary and Secondary are both visable with range only being seen via inventory and not visable to other players (no one can see what your carrying) If using a 2 hand weapon : Primary ~ Staff or other two handed item Seconday ~ Nothing because of the two handed item Range ~ Same as above... I'm not in beta so don't take my word for it, it's just how I would assume it to be.

Then i think I might walk around with either dagger+torch/orb+wand or staff+wand. Anyone knows if it is a easy change from ranged to melee, to switch between ex. staff and wand in combat? I would also like to hear everybodys suggestion/favorite weapon uses in the game, and why.... (since it actually was the intension with the thread  ).- And some gametesters can you tell us some more about weapons for warlocks, and what you have found most effective so far. |

from my understanding you don't really switch between. the wand is used like any other item, right? so your default is your weapon (staff, dagger, sword) and then to use your wand you have to click on it. is it possible to hotkey a wand? anyone know? |

As far as I've been able to tell you are never able to see a wand in-game other than the inventory icon. When you shoot one it just looks like you're pointing your melee weapon or something. I could be wrong about this, though, as I haven't looked super close. You do not switch between melee and ranged weapons. They are both equipped at the same time in different slots. You have one button to turn on melee auto-attack and another button to shoot/throw your ranged weapon. And you can attack with your ranged weapon while melee auto-attack is on, too. Here are some of my weapons. These are still very low level compared to what you can get up around the level cap of 39, though. Note the color of the item name. Yellow (not shown) is Common, Green is Uncommon and Blue is Rare. The Rare items this push have much lower level requirements than non-rare items of comparable quality. Normally a staff as good as the one I have shown, if it wasn't a Rare, would be more like a level 24 instead of 14. Also note the green stat bonuses of +1dmg and +1int on the sword and the staff. Those are permanent enchants by someone with the Enchanting tradeskill. You can also check out my guild's hilarious sense of humor in the first shot... heh! :p  ![]() ![]() ![]()
