Importing your own artwork and making your own unit frames guide

hello people

i am new to the warlocks den and have noticed that alot of people are requesting ui's so over the next couple of days i am going to write a comnplete indepth guide on how to create / import your own artwork and make your very own unit frames

ok step one
things you will need!

Photoshop (i use CS3 for this tutorial)
Discord Art
Discord Unit Frames
Bar mod of your choice (no point having custom everything if you aint gunna make your own bars )

ok here we go

screenshots will be uploaded from home so at the moment this is just a text guide

STEP 1)
find some artwork you like in any format as long as it is not animated
or design your own in photoshop

once you have the artwork open inside photoshop first thing you need to do is select the part of the artwork to get first

(for wow to see textures they have to be in the following multiples 64, 128, 256, or 512

so 256x256 is acceptable
256 x 512 is acceptable
512x64 is acceptable
12x 73 is not

so make a new canvas using one of the above sizes (remember a multiple of 2)

copy the selected area and paste it into your new canvas

now the hard part

on the right hand side of photoshop window you see layers / channels etc

click chanels
at the bottom of that window there are 4 buttons hover over them unitl you find the one that says Alpha channel (third one from the left)

click it

now you will only see a black space select RGB aswell as the alpha chanel you wil see your image and a huge red box

ok what is red wow will ignore so take the eraser tool and rub out the red of what you want wow to see

once this is done click file save as

save it as a Targa
now you get a popup that says texture compression select 32 and ok

now you need to put this saved artwork in the following folder

C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns/DiscordArt/CustomTextures

***this is for artwork not the unit frames*****

now load up wow

**wow will not see textures if you have added them unless you quit and load it up again a /rl wont work***

ok

now type /dart

you get the discord art box pop up

at the top in the middle it says select texture
click it and then click on custom

at the bottom it has a path were you type in the name of the file you just made

so
for example : test1.tga
hit enter

you will now see a prievew of your texture click add texture you will now see the texture you just added rince and repeate for more textures ;)

click unlock dragging to move them

once there all in place make sure you click disable mouse (this stops any backgrounds interfearing with wow)

congratulations you just added your first wow texture

i will upload screenshots of every single process tonight at home hope this helps some people ;) the guide will continue with unit frames and more about artwork with full screenshots so keep checkin back
