Re: @damage meters
I like the sound of that.. We can't repell shadowbolts of that magnitude!! If only I could find a way to fit that into a guild note.. hrm.

Re: @damage meters
If the case is that people are using "sub par" damage meters or tools then sure.. find something that is more accurate. If the case is that cataloging your damage in relation to others( or even watching others performance) is a bad idea then I would disagree. Sure, if its used to flex the ego and say you are better.. then yeah that's not going to help anyone (even you). However, if you use something like wws and show everyone whats going on then maybe the *TEAM* can take a look at who needs to change up the game. With my guild we have taken the combat log and put it up with wws. This allowed us to say oh look.. we didnt realize that PersonX could use some improvement in these areas. This wasnt to mock them or demean them... it was to help him improve.. thus improving the entire TEAM's performance. You know.. it also showed that we ALL needed to step up and change our game a bit even those who were constantly rocking the damage out. In looking at the wws and the combat log we found that our tank wasnt as aware as he thought (and he does damn good), that our dps should watch for mobs that get aggro'd by the healer and that our healer needs some +sta gear. If we didn't look at these things.. we would still be confused as we ran back into the instance. Using them for the right reasons is good. Using them to show off your digital manliness isnt. |

Re: @damage meters
The problem with damage meters is that too many people die and/or wipe a raid trying to stay on top. "someone just passed me" *nuke nuke nuke nuke* "OMG WHY DIDN'T I GET HEALS!" I have seen that happen so many times it's not even funny. I think they should make it so that only officers/raid leader have access to see any sort of meter during a raid. That way, if someone isn't holding their own it can be brought to their attention. You would have access to them after the raid disbands. |

Re: @damage meters
Damage meters are an interesting issue. They are a good tool when used properly, though I think wws tops damage meters imo. I think too many people get too caught up in topping the meters and end up wiping raids. My guild leader said it best when he said "When I look at wws and notice you were lower on damage, but you weren't blowing up the group or causing a raid wipe, I take that into account." When you think of overall damage you have to look at the fight, and fight mechanics, and look at the people who died first, and the people who did their job staying alive and also put out decent dps. *shrug* Definatly not something to be spammed, but a good tool when used right. I just downloaded the WoWAce mod, Violation damage meters. It's been the best so far imo and Ive tried a lot of different ones. |
