Very Simple, Yet Useful Food/Drink Macro

I played an affliction lock from lvl1 all the way to 70 so in general eating and drinking was not a high priority. As my gear started getting better and I started raiding, I switched to destruction and found that when I am farming or soloing quests that I need to eat and drink quite often as compared to affliction.

This macro is no lifesaver, but certainly a space saver and now that 2.4 allows the macro button to show how much food and drink you have left I am using this on a VERY regular basis. Its quite simple really, here is how mine goes:

/use Mag'har Mild Cheese
/use Purified Draenic Water

The macro will show how many food+drink you have left, so if you have 10 food and 11 drink the macro will show the number 10. What this does is let you eat and drink at the same time with the push of one button, just like you were using a manna biscuit.

While I realize this macro will not save lives, I was dumbfounded by the amount of people on my server who thought it was a GREAT idea and now everyone I know uses it, especially Locks. I will generally grind away until my HP and mana are at 10% or less, trying to keep them as even as possible, so this works GREAT for me.

One thing I suggest if you use this, is that you only buy certain types of food. The way I do it is I only buy food from the Scryer Innkeeper where my hearth is set, so that I never have to change the macro. I use a key binding for my food and drink, so generally I will put my biscuit button next to this one, and swap them when I am carrying manna biscuits so that I dont waste my food.

I hope there was nothing like this already in the forums, as Im sure Im not the first person to think of it, I just didnt see it on here anywhere and thought I would share.

to be honest - i feel i drink less when farming as destro.

good macro though, makes sense. binds you to having one type of food only; but most people do. unless you are a crazy person *is a crazy person*

Yeah when I was destro, I usually farmed with my Felhunter sacrificed. Mana wasn't really an issue but health was.

Still, neat trick with the macro

Well here is a slight change to the macro to make it less item dependent. Though what it will require is that the food item be stored in the same bag slot. What it means though is that if you wnat to change what food it will use you only have to move said item to the correct slot.

For Reference bags numbered as follows...
4 3 2 1 0

And bag slots are numbered as follows...
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
ect...

I like to use the bag furthest to the left just before my shard bag. And for simplest reference I use the first two slots. So the location would be 3 1 and 3 2 for the second bag from the left and the first two slots in that bag.

#showtooltip [mod]3 2;3 1
/use 3 1
/use 3 2

If both items are the same it will only use one as both items share the same cooldown. Though if say they are water and food it will use one of each. The Icon will show what will be used first. When you hold down the shift, alt, or ctrl key it will show you what will be used second.

Try Buffet addon, it automatically swaps assigned slot item for best food/drink you have

My all-in-one food and drink macro is just me clicking my Naaru Rations button.

FTW! why carry 2 if you can carry 1!

same as mana pot, why carry 4 (5/stack) if you can carry 1 (20/stack) injector.
