Macro help for Gruuls boss #1
I'm in a newly formed guild. I know the most in the raid have run Gruuls before. Personally I've ran it probably 6-8 times with other guilds. I know what to expect and what is expected of me.
To make a long story short we wiped multiple times on the first boss and we finally called it. It was the first time we as a newly formed guild attempted Gruuls. Personally I blame it on people being poorly organized and geared and a lot of the DPS dieing in the first 60 seconds. However I was accused of not enslaving/banishing the felhunter quickly enough and causing the wipes. Ideally I would enslave the felhunter, then have it attack the tanks target X. Few minor problems on my end. #1 The demon does quickly break my enslavment. #2 The lag and choas does make it difficult to have the demon attack the main tanks target. I end up just having him attacking the first target I can aquire. I also did banish the felhunter a few times which I felt was a viable alternative but the RL said that doing that isn't good enough. Targeting is the biggest challenge I run into on this fight.. not dieing or putting out the DPS. Rather than arguing who is right. I want to set up some macros specially for Gruuls that will specifically assist me in controlling the felhunters and assisting the raild leader. macro #1 sould look something like /cast enslave Wild Felhunter (1 button to enslave the Felunters wherever the hell they are running around in the chaos) macro #2 should look something like /assist insertTanknameshere /petattack (1 button to have my enslaved pet attack the raidleaders target) Can someone help me refine these macros so they will really work as intended. |

Re: Help accused of messing up Gruuls boss#1
easiest way i do it, is:
after misdirects are up, i run straight into where Olm is stood, that way i cannot miss a giant Felpuppy in my way. i enslave it, while casting the enslave i will target Olm (either from MT targets or finding him in the raid (whichever is easier)) and jobs a Good one. after the first enslave its cake. i hope this helps |

Re: Help accused of messing up Gruuls boss#1
Personally, I always pick a target to focus. In this case it would be the warlock. So use /focus on it. That way you can quickly reacquire it in case the tank shifts targets momentarily.
/cast [target=wild felhunter] enslave This macro will let you cast the spell without changing targets. I wouldn't worry about a special petattack macro just as long as you have it bound. However, if you -really- need it: /petattack [target=focus] This assumes you followed my advice and focused Olum. Really though, its a hard pull because so many people have to go at once. The first time my guild (BT/Hyjal) did Gruul's together when we merged we wiped on this stupid pull. (Only Once) But mistakes can happen on this pull at any level. Like for instance the mage getting all of them because the hunter's misdirects resist. |

Another trick if you find the felpuppy breaks enslave early is to chuck a quick curse of shadows on it. This invariably makes the enslave last longer, usually until it dies at the hands of its former master or Krosh.

Just be quick with your re-enslaves, and banishes if you're short on warlocks. The macros help a ton, when I use them I can get the enslave off before most people realize the damn thing is summoned ;)

What I do is use a target macro to target it in the chaos and then manually enslave. After that I use I him to beat up Olm. Im lucky though that I've never had an enslave break in that fight.

Re: Help accused of messing up Gruuls boss#1
To ensure the demons where under control, my guild had every warlock spread around the room equal (as much as possible) distance from the original spawn, and approximately where Olm is tanked. That way if one lock gets an unlucky resist, there's at least 3 more casting at the same time. Someone will get it
Our raid just sicked him back on Olm, and our DPS was usually quick enough to get to Olm before a 3rd rebanish. I just used a simple macro, /target wild, and then cast my enslave from there (with my terrible clicking habits) It can easily be refined with /target wild /cast ensalve demon rank (w/e) An alternative stratedgy is to have on warlock get that curse of shaddows down before the enslave. It improves the chance of success, and seems to keep him from ever breaking early. |

Re: Help accused of messing up Gruuls boss#1
what about this macro?
Macro #1 /castsequence [target=wild felhunter] curse of shadow, enslave Macro #2 /target Olm /petattack the whole idea is that I want it to click a button to enslave (without having to click around to aqquire the right target, and button 2 to attack the main tanks target with my enslaved deamon. |

/petattack [target=focus, nodead] [target=target] This will send your pet at your focus target if it is not dead. If you don't have a focus or the focus target is dead it will send your pet at your current target. |

Re: Macro help for Gruuls boss #1
Yeah Corpboy is right the other macro is better for day to day raiding. I was just giving something basic.
Don't waste a GCD on CoS the felpup. You need to have it enslaved faster. Honestly though if you are suffering from having it break too soon, maybe its not your fault and just that dps is too slow on getting to olm. Alternatively you could just have the mage kill it instead of placing it on olm. I know some guilds that like to do that. I wouldn't use a /target line in your petattack macro. Having olm focused makes it so much easier. Use the macro Corpboy put in. |
