if your computer is a memory hog like mine, then i highly recommend the following setup: first off i use fubar, FuBar 3.6 - Addons - Curse very low memory usage, and very handy. you can add tons of stuff to it from the an experience tracker, honor point tracker, gold, the whole deal, just check it out and get what you need... now, i use performance fu. FuBar_PerformanceFu - Addons - Curse it monitors my FPS and my memory usage so i can know (just by looking at the top left hand corner of my screen) that i am running really low FPS and need to do something about it. plus you can run your mouse over the fubar plugin and it will give you a list of all your addons and how much memory they are taking up. so i also use: Addon Control Panel: Addon Control Panel - Addons - Curse It gives you a button on to the menu screen (when you hit escape to log out or exit the game) that says "Addon" when you bring up the menu you can enable and disable any addon that you have and reload the UI without having to logout. you also have 2 buttons, one that says "disable all" and "enable all" the best part of this, is that you can LOCK certain addons to always stay enabled or Disabled. so what i do is when i am running quests or something i leave everything enabled, which includes Quest Helper, Cartographer, Gatherer, Ackis Recipe list, so on and so on. but if i am about to go into a PVP battleground or even dalaran (where i get like 9 fps) all i have to do is bring up that addon menu, click "disable all" which disabled all my addons except a handful that i have locked to be enabled all the time like fubar, necrosis, bartender, and xperl. then i just have to click reload UI. it takes a few seconds and poof, i am back in the game getting more fps and memory. then if i am about to go out farming or questing, i just bring up the addon menu, click enable all and reload, back to the game... i just use the performancefu plugin to see what addons are taking up over 1M of memory. if it does, and i don't need it for PVP i don't lock it as enabled, that way when i click "disable all" it disables it and gives me more memory! hope this helps, i tried not to make it sound too confusing i have found this to be a very awesome way to keep the game running smooth. if you would like to see the fubar setup i have, check out my UI on the UI Thread: Show off your UI - Thread #3 (Patch 3.1 and beyond)
