Re: Best UI for locks
There is no 'best' ui. I suggest you read the UI threads and get an idea to make your own UI. Have fun! |

First few things I would get are addons for unit frames(XPerl or Pitbull), action bar(Bartender) and cast bar(Quartz). Move the unit frames that you watch constantly(e.g. yours and your target's, maybe focus) closer to the center of the screen so that you don't have move your eyes repeatedly. |

If you're going to set up a UI, whether it's custom or pre-made, make sure you have at LEAST an hour's worth of time to mess around with all the options and make things exactly how you want them to be. Are you raiding or PvPing? Here's a list of addons you might want to start out with - see if you like them, and then you can always get more. You can stick with the default WoW unit frames, or you can download a whole new set. There are probably hundreds out there, but here are some of the more popular ones: -Xperl (probably the easiest to set up as they come almost completely configured) -AG Unit Frames (very clean but still easy to set up) -Pitbull (endless options and awesome but can be a pain unless you have lots of time) -Grid is nice for raid frames, too, but you should definitely use other unit frames for yourself and your target. For your action bars/toolbars, I recommend Dominos for ease of use, but there's also Bartender (whatever version's out now, 3 or 4 or whatever), and several others. Omen threat meter is a given if you're raiding. ForteXorcist is AWESOME for locks - ClassTimer would work just as well, though, but Forte is the complete package (for any class really). It kicks ***! Also, Dominos has its own cast bar, or you can get a nice castbar addon like Quartz or AzCastBar. Oh, and for combat text, I use Mik's Scrolling Battle text, but a lot of people use Scrolling Combat Text. SharedMedia will give you a lot fo textures and fonts as well, or you could try Clearfont. That's all I have for ya right now... below is my UI, it's not great, but it gets the job done!

Re: Best UI for locks
If you have a good system that can handle a decent amount of addons then I woudl recomend MaelosUI which I have been using for some time now. If your system is a little older, this UI will be memory intensive and you may need to disable some of the non essentials. |

Re: Best UI for locks
I made my own. Some useful ones for just about anyone would be Bartender or Dominos for Bars Buffalo or Elkano Buff Bars for buffs Pitbull or XPerl for unit frames Recount for damage stats DoTimers or ForteXorcist for timers MSBT or Parrot for combat text and notifications Baggins or Baudbag or one of a million other bag addons Some people like to use HUDs like IceHUD DBM or BigWigs for raiding It all comes down to personal prerefence.

I would just mention that Pitbull4 is infinitely easier to set up that Pitbull if you want that interface but need an easier way to set it up. Technically Pitbull4 is in beta still but it is hosted at curse.com nonetheless. I've been using it for months without issue. The only thing not implemented is raid frames, but I use grid for that. |
