Replacement for DoTimer
Hey guys, I'm just kind of bored during the maintenance so I thought i'd come help some of you who may be seeking a replacement for DoTimer like I did, whether you just don't like it anymore or don't know how to fully customize it (like me ). NeedToKnow Hope my BBcode is correct there.. Anyway, it is supported currently, and, obviously still updated, and it's very simple to get to use. You can read this all on it's page but I'll give some info about the customization. You start out by typing /ntk, and 3 grey bars with a resize anchor on the bottom right corner appear. You can right click on these to change the buff, or debuff of your target, self, focus, etc. you want to show. I am destruction atm so I make it show my immolate and I put it near my character so I can see it without ever having to look at my actionbars. So for me it's : Unit: Target Debuff/Buff: Debuff Show only if cast by self: Checked Spell: Immolate For affliction it would take significantly more setup but I am going affliction again soon just to test it out for that spec (and because destro seems to have a negative effect on my DPS with my sucky gear). So if anyone cares, there it is. I've butchered the configuration and the awesomeness of this lightweight addon, but you get the jist.

Ive replaced DoTimer with Buttontimer. You can configure pretty much every button and it can time how long a spell has left on cooldown as well as the lenth of time a DOT has left on the current target in the shape of handy bars that come from the button itself. I found it a lot more useful than DoTimer, but it depnds on personal taste I guess |

this is great! I've been looking for a replacement to dotimer myself due to the fact that everytime I try to reapply my firestone I get a blizzard UI error due to Dotimer and I have to disable it to apply the stone. This seems a nice replacement, though I need to dig a little deeper to get everything working the way dotimer works. |

Yeah, I had it while leveling through BC (don't ask me why, I obviously just loved to have tons of addons) and it was like...oh..ok. So when I get into Wrath of the Lich King and really start raiding and such, it shows all buffs from everyone and I can't configure it to my liking so I just deleted it lol, I know how you feel. It's funny because I was told about this from a reply on Tankspot.com to one of my tanking threads lol. Quote:
I'll have to check that out.

If you are raiding, ForteXorcist (used to be called Forte Warlock) has an amazing spell timer (dot timer/cooldown timer) built in. It does some really sweet things that few other things do such as predict the next tick of your drain soul or other abilities so if you are affliction, you can decide whether to drop your drain soul to re-apply a dot or wait til the next drain soul tick to do it. It also shows a glowy area indicating when the time to cast the fresh (eg on immolate) is not going to clip the dot. ForteXorcist also has a number of other utilities for the raiding warlock from soulstone tracking, soulshard tracking (amongst all locks that use it), built in communication macros for healthstone, summon stones, soul stones etc. Built in soul shard manager for placements of soulshards in your bag(s), Overall, it's a pretty sweet tool. |

I've heard some great things about (formerly) ForteWarlock, and at one point I had it, but that was late BC, and I don't even think I was raiding yet. I never got used to it, probably because I used to be addon-icly(lol) declined. I'm downloading it atm though because I forgot about it until now and I really should try it again. If it doesn't work out I'll just disable and use NTK, or maybe use them both together, if I end up liking it.

Re: Replacement for DoTimer
My ui is built primarily around three addons: Macaroon!, Xperl UnitFrames and ForteExorcist. Here's a screenshot of my ui: ![]() On the right-hand side, below the mini-map, is ForteExorcist's Soulstone manager. We've just started Naxx here so there's no soulstone up yet and it's just showing what locks in the raid have one available. If there were a soulstone up then the player's name who the soulstone was on would be displayed in the casting lock's bar with a countdown displaying how much time remains before that lock can cast another soulstone. Below the soulstone manager is ForteExorcist's spell manager- it shows what spells I have up and how much time I have remaining on those spells as well as what buffs I have also with countdown timers. The buff timer is spammy when ForteExorcist is first installed because it's gonna show every buff the raid has up, but it can be configured to show only those you want to see there. It will also show whatever debuffs you have on you if you want it to- I personally have that turned off, I trust those in my Guild whose job it is to remove those, they need no micro-managing from me Below that is Quartz's casting bar and below that is Omen.

Re: Replacement for DoTimer
Hey Zee,Your obviously well versed in Forte. I've been wanting to switch to it because the othr locks in my guild use it, but there is one thing I can't figure out to do (tho I admit I didn't give it a real look).I use Buttontimers and while it has many good feature, what I like most about it is that the spell graphs you are tracking always appear in the same place. I disliked DotTimers because you had to hunt around for the spells and then asses their status. Is it possible to make Forte display the spells in the same place and same order? |

Re: Replacement for DoTimer
Weird, I like the look of the Forte' timers, but I liked DotTimers because I could set it to re-arrange the timers based on time left. I'll have to try it your way, but it looks in the screen cap like Forte's timer is showing things in some order other than "time remaining" which is what I used to do. Maybe it's just doing the order they were applied?
