Power Auras guide

Hi, I'm looking to make my power auras more advanced - branch into timer territory etc. Was wondering if anyone had found a useful guide online. I've watched some videos and looked on their website but haven't really seen something that nailed it on the head.

I've found a few online, but most seem to really just scratch the surface:
Seabrat's WoW Blog: Power Auras!
Food Before Flowers: Power Auras Classic | No Stock UI
YouTube - Power Aura Tutorial
World of Warcraft (en) Forums -> [Guide] Power Auras - Warlock Style

I tried working up one that showed when anyone other than me had aggro (for my tank alt), but it never worked correctly. I've also been experimenting with linking more than one aura, but I don't think I have that right yet.

There are some fairly advanced things you can do with Power Auras, but as was said, many of the guides really only touch on the basics.

The best advice I can give is use those guides to familiarize yourself with the general options and what they do, then go to a target dummy and start playing with it yourself. Once you have a solid concept of how the options interact, stack counts, timers, etc, you can start working on more complicated Auras.

Use the "Test" and "Debug" functions liberally while designing Auras so that you can watch the effect your changes have even without having the conditions met. If you want your auras to "Use own texture" you may need to proc them at least once before Test will show them properly, so that the Mod can identify what texture that is.

3.3 Re: Power Auras guide

I just learned about this addon and was searching for more tips/ideas on using it and found this post ;) I apologize now, but I think this will be a little long...

For setting up timers, check this site - it's for Rogue, but you can adapt to your needs:

Power Auras: Setup and Use for Assassination Slice and Dice

To set up timers for your own spells, open powa, click new, I uncheck Glow, halfway down while on the action tab, make sure 'activation by:' says Buff... check Use own Textures (you won't see it til you're actually in combat and use the spell). In the box below that, enter the name of the spell (Corruption, Curse of Agony, etc), check twice 'In Combat' Then on the Timer tab click Show - you can uncheck 'show hundredths' unless you wanna see that.

Now you can use the size and position sliders to move it to where you want. to see it, on the main powa window, click the test button.

If you want to set it up for a debuff, in the activation by: change it to debuff, put the name of the debuff in the box below that... double check in combat (the check means while in combat, the X means never in combat). Set up timers, size, and position the same way as above

-----------------

To link 'auras' together, create multiple auras. For example, I set one up for my rogue that checks my target in combat, if it has a bleed effect then it pops up text on my screen to apply Hunger For Blood.

So, in one aura, I unchecked all the stuff on top, checked, use own texture, activation by buff, hunger for blood for the name, and checked 'Invert' - so that if I do not have HfB on, the message from the other aura will continue, but once I hit HfB, the message goes away.

So in the other one, uncheck all the top stuff except I did check Text Aura (to pop up text), set a message in the box below that... then under activation tab, activate by debuff - texture doesn't matter cuz it's text, the name of the debuff i have set to rupture/garrote/etc - separate multiple buff/debuffs with the / character. Double checked In Combat, Checked Enemy Target

Now to link them, on the 2nd one here, under the buff/debuff name box, and to the right of Exact Name - you put the aura ID. The 1st one I did is ID 10, so I just put a 10 in that box. To get the aura Id, just mouse over the buff on the main window it'll look like [10] Buff - or something similar.

Now, I have the 1st one I set up, I actually disabled it in the main window because I don't actually need it to fire off, I just need the 2nd one to check the logic of the 1st one

-------------------

Now, for checking poison (or for Locks, the Fire/Spell stones), you set it up the same way, except under Activation by: change it to weapon enchant and put the name of the enchant. I checked In Combat again, and check Invert so it checks if you do not have it up. The other difference is I do not 'Use Own Texture' because I'd rather an actual aura pop up as a reminder. So, on the top, I keep Glow on - It's easier to see. Then there's the slider to select the texture you want. Then you can size and position it. Again, if you want it to check for lack of one particular stone, just put that enchant name in, if you want it to check for either one, put both names separated by a /

Then on the animation tab below you can animate it so it pulses, or whatever you want to get your attention.

That's all I've messed with so far, I hope it's somewhat easy to understand

I'd like to set power auras up to indicate when the target is at or below 25% health for the Drain Soul Execute phase.

I've tried setting up the health monitor on POWA but with no luck anyone got any suggestions or links to methods of doing this?

I found a few ready made auras here that seem to work fine

That's great Brulee thank you.

Any chance you can export the code and paste it in your reply so I can just import it in?

Re: Power Auras guide

Hey all,

Is there any way to get Power Auras to work for Demonic Pact? I have everything else working, Decimation, Molten Core etc. For some strange reason I cannot get Demonic Pact to show... in the activation panel I have "Cast by Me" unchecked as it's my Felguard that actually applies the debuff...still nuttin...any Ideas?
