Guns or bows? (again)

What I keep wondering it; What about the upgrades? I know that guns have scopes and shells that up their damage, do bows have special arrows and something to attach to the gun?

Re: Guns or bows? (again)

Bows and crossbows can both use scopes as well. They both also use arrows (no bolts for crossbows) for varying levels of DPS. My hunter uses the CE revered arrows (Warden Arrows I think they are called) but I'm not sure if there are better slugs than that in-game. I can't use a gun on my hunter - it just feels wrong.

You have access to higher end ammo with both bows or guns, but guns do have a bullet that is higher dps then arrows. Not that much of a difference unless you are dwarf or troll. Then you will want to go for their specialty. Weapon skill is related to +hit and having the passive skill is free hit when using that weapon.

Gotcha, I didn't know you could put a scope on the bows, that eliminates that part of the equation. I've never heard of those arrows, I'll have to try to look it up and see what gimmpy is referring to.

Arrows: Timeless Arrow
Mysterious Arrow
Adamantite Stinger
Warden's Arrow

Bullets: Timeless Shell
Mysterious Shell
Adamantite Shells
Hellfire Shot (Felbane Slugs for aliance)

Those are the top end bullets. The normal ones can be bought from pretty much any munitions vendor.

Wow, nice. Looks like to use the top shelf stuff you've got to jump though some hoops.

Re: Guns or bows? (again)

Also, it is best to save the really good ammo for raids, pvp, or elite quests and such. Could be very costly otherwise. Just use the regular vendor stuff for the regular grind.

Re: Guns or bows? (again)

My hunter. aptly named Arrowshooter, has been using a gun for the last 10 lvls.
If you have a guildmate who is an Engineer, they can make some really slick guns and ammo. But the good ammo they can make can be pricey due to mats.
Right now Im using smooth shot. Its +7.5 dps. I think a stack is about 19s. I have been hitting the AH and grabbing Crafted shot for 1s. Its 8.5 dps.

Hopefully soon I can find a bow or crossbow soon. The gun sound can be annoying after a while.

Re: Guns or bows? (again)

With the last patch engineers can now make arrow crates, along with slug crates, each crate holds 5 stacks of blue arrows/bullets that do the same as the Adamantite slugs. Very cheap to make aswell.

But . . . isn't Arrowshooter now not shooting arrows at all!?

Confuzzled.
