Hunter: First advice to a Hunter?

A RL friend has a Horde Orc Hunter.
To explain the (not existing) level of knowledge of this class.
He tried the trial of 10 days and likes the game. Not searched for info before he started. And now instances coming up. But no experience at all.

I would give like to give him some advise for future. But honestly admits me. I don't have a clue at all.

So what I am asking is what are the basics and focus.
level 20 now. skinning and Enchanting

Some examples.
WC for gear?
What weapons and where (learn gun from weapon trainer? etc)
Focus of talents and which stats.
Advise for pet training. (stay with Orgrimar trained boar or level 17 pet train)

Any info is welcome. Ofc. I'll do some searching on my own.
Somehow I can't get a grip on it.
