Shammy builds
I know that these forums stick to locks mostly but I was wondering if anybody had any advice for an alt shammy. I am currently 32 and i am going to be doing BGs and solo lvling and I have no idea about the trees. I have went to the WOWshammy site that I have seen in the forums but they did not have the answer i was looking for. thx

Re: Shammy builds
Hey Southside have you had any luck in finding a build? I have a 31 shammy and I am being told by a buddy of mine to spec Elemental. I am told elemental has the higher DPS. Let me know if you have found anything.

Re: Shammy builds
I've never played a shammy past the mid 20s, but I would advise Elemental spec as well. I'm currently playing a 64 hunter and i have to compete with enhancement shammys for gear. Elemental shammy's pretty much have no one to compete with on gear except other shammys. I also think an ele shammy has higher dps than enhancement.

Re: Shammy builds
Elemental is poor for leveling. Go enhancement. MUCH more gear available (just TRY to get some spell damage mail from alliance quests/instances, lol), faster for grinding/questing solo (far less mana dependent), better dps in groups. It all changes at 70 though.

Re: Shammy builds
Ok thx for the info. As I said I will be soloing 99% of the time so I need something that can keep me moving like my lock' did.
And mavric240 I have'nt found anything else but on this site even the main wow shammy forums was a blurr. |

Re: Shammy builds
Yeah, Enhancement is the way to go for leveling. Elemental becomes more viable during Outlands where the gear is better supplied. Enhancement is also really fun in bg's in brackets before the 50s (Im 49 atm with my shammy). You can really burst down pretty much all the clothies in a heartbeat.

Re: Shammy builds
I found that specing enh and 21 points into resto for nature's swiftness provided me the greatest versatility in solo play. Time your shocks, spell absortion totem (I am at work now), while dpsing the mob down pretty much let me own casters. When you have adds, the points into natures swiftness and the healing interrupt minimization saved my @$$ and countless occasions when adds occured. In enh I worked my way up to duel wield.

Re: Shammy builds
leveling shammies tend to stick to enhancement, and I was pleasantly surprised with my dps on trash mobs at level 70 (less so with bosses that do knockback). Enhancement for pvp is not as fun as i hoped at 70 although i'll wager that once i get a few more hit points it might pick up.
restoration has a titanically good reputation for arenas and raids, and is actually kind of fun to play for a healing class, and a mate of mine enjoys playing an elemental shaman as a combination support class/dps. so stick with enhancement for leveling but as you close in on level 70, get a healing set of gear and a dps set, then blow a hundred gold on trying different specs. its kind of hard to predict what you'll fall in love with, but be prepared to be surprised by your own decision. |

Re: Shammy builds
Here' what I would recommend:
Level 44 Level 59 Level 65 For your last 5 points, I would spread them between Mental Quickness, Nature's Guidance, and Totemic Mastery depending on what your plans are. If you're planning on raiding at all, Nature's Guidance should get maxed, as well as Totemic Mastery. If you're not going to be raiding, I'd max out Mental Quickness first, and then decide on whether or not to put one point into Totemic Mastery and one point into Nature's Guidance, or just put two points into Nature's Guidance. That's all assuming that you want to stay Enhancement speced. Really, by the time you're in your mid 60's you should just decide what sounds like the most fun for you - Healing, melee DPS, or caster DPS - and then gear appropriately. Have fun!
