It's kinda lame from the standpoint of playing around with talents, but basically you can put all 61 points into Frost and be pretty damn good. If you want to up your mana efficiency a bit, drop the 10 into arcane to get arcane concentration and boost your spell penetration. So, a 10/0/51 is fine for most everything. 0/0/61 has its place, and if you like molten armor, perhaps drop 5 points into ignite under the fire tree. The bottom line is that frost really IS that good.

Re: Whats the Standard Frost build for raiding/pvp?

0/0/61 => full frost

10/0/51 => frost with clear casting

17/0/44 => frost with imp CS

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

that's what i ran with, granting that I normally only run BG and not arena.

if you do arena you could move 1 point from frost channeling to winter's chill ( to max it ) since it will mean whoever is dispelling will have 1 more debuff to dispel 100% of the time you cast a frost spell ( ice lance is spammable =p )

Re: Whats the Standard Frost build for raiding/pvp?

arcane explosion does more damage, can crit and produces less threat. I don't even AoE that often, in raids or when grinding, so it's not something i considered.

i can def see a 1/3 imp blizzard use in dragonhawk ( boss in ZA ) but i'm currently fire ( might respec cause i'm seriously bored of that toon). for bosses like tidewalker , we just rotate frost nova.

If you are gonna PVP with the mage, then one point in improved blizzard is a good thing. There are definitely places in AV and WSG where an area slow is going to be handy.
