Mage: Leveling build at 40

First off woohoo my mage is 40 and doesn't have to walk anymore! My first alt ever to get a mount.

So far I've gone full fire but I really know nothing about specs for mages so I look to my favorite wow site for advice.

I'm looking for advice on leveling specs with low down time and good survivability. I will usually be solo and don't plan on doing much dungeoning or PvP so I'm just looking to quest/grind my way to 70. In addition to spec advice I'm interested in any info on strategy, cast order, etc.

So any advice would be appreciated as I am very new at mages.

I'd stick to fire till 50 then respec to frost

main reason is frost lacks a serious punch compared to fire and most old world quest now are non elites kill X or kill X to collect Y.... when you're 50 you have the water elemental to help with your burst damage, coupled with the survival factor of ice barrier and ice block
