Slam & Auto-attack combining

Does anyone know a foolproof way to combine Slam and Auto-attack so that I do both? At the moment i seem to cancel my auto-attack as Slam overwrites it, I wondered if there was a way to do both, a bit like the steady shot/auto-shot macro's hunters use?

level 38, no points in improved slam, 3.2 weapon speed, Arms spec.
(armory is down atm, Taragon on Aszune Server)

Get a swing timer, first of all. When your weapon hits, start your slam. It should finish casting long before your next white hit, leaving you time to use a MS/WW/Overpower as cooldowns dictate. I don't think there's a macro for it like there is for hunters, however, just manual timing.

Cheers - I am using Quartz's swing timer, maybe I'll make the bar a little more obvious than it is. It's probably practice but I also have spent the last 4 lvls training polearms and now 2h axes up to the right level so I can actually hit things I was using a very fast 2hander but now I am at 3.5 so it should be easier to interweave.

Re: Slam & Auto-attack combining

slam will always reset your swing timer. however you want to use it right after a white swing so that you arent wasting part of a swing. As far as I know, all 2h slam warriors use a swing timer (quartz like turmeric siad).

Re: Slam & Auto-attack combining

yes - extensive testing last night showed me that it wasn't lag, or slow reflexes or bad eyesight but in fact a perfectly legitimate game mechanic. I don't foresee me getting improved slam anytime soon (working down Fury tree atm) so will just remember to ignore it for levelling

Thanks all. I'll probably be back in a few levels with another question :D
