Do any PVE/PVP Rogue Talent Builds exist?
I'm enjoying leveling my rogue alt (37 atm). My question is: Does a talent build exist that is viable in both PVP and PVE for rogues? And if so, what is it?
Currently on my lock, I'm 6/44/11. This build was just fine for Kara and in the 2-3 months of weekly raiding of Kara we did, I came in first in DPS every week. While I probably shouldn't have, I did considering i had nice gear. Also considering it's heavy demo, of course it's very nice for PVP as well. I want a PVE/PVP viable build like the one on my lock for my rogue. I keep reading and hearing, combat swords to level and then mix combat and assassination for PVE or mix Sub and combat or assassination for PVP. I'm not sure what to believe, or maybe, somehow it's all bs and doesn't matter. I'm enjoy sub to level.....LOL...Thanks for any help in advance. |

Re: Do any PVE/PVP Rogue Talent Builds exist?
There really isn't a top-notch I can do everything spec for rogues. 20/41/0 combat swords for pve and 16/3/42 shadowstep for pvp/arena. You can BG just fine as combat swords, however, but SHS doesn't raid well, and combat doesn't arena well (easily kited).
Closest thing I could recommend is 41/0/20 mutilate. It will fall behind 41/20/0 mutilate in pve, but not by much. With the upcoming changes to what can be poisoned, and the free 15% crit with mutilate in 2.4, it's somewhat viable for raiding and still tears it up in pvp. Only downside is it requires a fair amount of skill with positioning, and fast reflexes. |

Combat swords is viable for both PvP and PvE. The extra swing works wonders in PvP and great on a boss. Just that daggers don't work nicely in PvE, but are amazing in PvP.

I leveled as assasination swords to 50, mutilate 50-62 and 25/3/xx from 62-70. There's really no wrong way to go.. combat would've probably been faster but i enjoyed my own spec a lot more. Double cold blood/evasion really helps against those tough elites.

actually daggers are NOT great for pvp. you need ot be positioned and you lose things like prep or AR, imp kick/sprint etc. 20/0/41 is currently teh best pvp spec, 20/41/0 is the standard pve combat swords spec, and it can be quite good in pvp, just lacks the survivablity of subtlety (Cheat Death).

Re: Do any PVE/PVP Rogue Talent Builds exist?
Simply, no. Subtlety-daggers is basically the worst spec imaginable for anything besides Ambush critting undergeared clothies in AV. Sub is basically "the Hemo tree," and Hemo is an awful ability to use with a dagger. For some reason Imp Ambush is in the Sub tree, and it makes a lot of Rogues think that speccing Sub with daggers is a brilliant idea. It isn't.
