2 person tank combo
My roommate and I are going to start new alts and wanted some advise about a good 2 person tank combo for leveling to 70. We've pretty much decided on a Warrior/Pally combo. How can we spec them so one of us can be the main tank and the other dps but can tank if necessary in instances. Basically our guild needs more tanks, we have plenty of healers atm. Since the 2 of us will quest together I'm not concerned with solo leveling. Since 2 tanks in a group is not a good idea one of us has to be dps so we can pug but which one? One of us will be full Protection but the other is a mystery.

Re: 2 person tank combo
To be honest, i'd advise both of you to go dps spec til 40 for sure. I have a 53 warrior and i don't usually have a problem tanking instances with my arms spec. Its in BC instances that tanks need to be speced for it. Anyway, i'd say at 40 have whichever one of you is playing the pally switch from retribution to protection and make sure he takes the Holy Shield talent. Prot pallys above 40 can fight several mobs at a time this way, and the other person as a fury or arms warrior would help make quick work of the mobs. Once you both hit outland, the warrior can decide if he wants to spec protection or not, but he probably should if he wants to find groups when the pally isn't around. Just my thoughts.

Re: 2 person tank combo
Warriors have an easier time to swap out to dps just by switching stances and gear than paladins do. Due to different seals and such, but my warrior is prot and he can get top 5 on a boss in Kara when I take him for OT (pulls and such). But, if one of you keep as prot while leveling (pally would be best because it takes longer to figure out the tanking seals and such) then just swap second person to prot as well as you enter outlands.

Re: 2 person tank combo
warrior => dps spec
pally => ret till about 40 then respec to prot. pally dps is zzzzzzzzzzz even as ret. mainly because of gear problems but they are awsome aoe tanks. this is less true in outlands when gear actually don't suck but yea generally I think warrior dps > pally dps. also the fact if you get adds, then the pally should live and hold aggro fine while a warrior will be getting rsi trying to tank 4+ mobs. |

Re: 2 person tank combo
I found retraidn dps to be very highly gear-dependant but if you can get some decent items then if anything its slightly ahead of the curve. That said, it IS very boring (seal...judge...autoattack...repeat...) however I guess its fairly irrelevant as your're levelling as it will get the job done.
As a random aside - if you can manage to get Haunting Blade - Items - World of Warcraft then its an utterly ridiculous damage stick -especially as you can get the cloak from Fenrus on the same run. add a few other "of the bear/tiger" items to boost AP and Crit and you seal away to your heart's content. |

Re: 2 person tank combo
Honestly i would go Pally/Pally. 1 Pally spec AOE Tank and other Spec holy. Heal him as he kills 10+ Monsters at a time. WinWin!!
