The Next Legend
After playing the lock and almost to 70, I have already begun to wonder what class I will play next. I have still not reached a solid decision. I want to play a class that requires skill and excells in PvP. I am sick of hearing, "fear dot dot dot lol". I want to be skilled, PvP-wise, with a class that will be appreciated by others. At the moment, I have selected these three classes, Priest, Warrior, Rogue. Although most may say that rogues require no skill, whatsoever, I have played one to 30, and beg to differ. A rogue would be fun with PvP and there would be nothing funner than walking into the auction house in SW and wtfganking a squishie. As a priest, I have yet not decided wether I want to go Discipline or Shadow. Shadowform promises insane DPS while Disc promises insane survivability. There is a legendary priest on our server, Funkmonk. He single handedly raids stormwind, and it is rumored that it usually takes 3+ players and 3+ NPCs to take him down. The reason I would like to be a warrior is because, it is the only class, so far, that I have heard anyone say is difficult to be good at. I'm sure their are reccomended classes that I have not listed so if that is the situation, please list them and give me an explanation. Thank you and please have fun guiding me to a class of my future.
P.S. Please don't put Deathknight. |

Re: The Next Legend
I've got a lot of days played on a rogue and it definately requires skill to excell....but they definately require less ability than a class such as Hunter imo. ShS builds make it so VERY easy to keep on top of your opponent and rogues have the best snare in the game....not to mention its free!! Coupled with the DPS they bring to the table and Cheap Death (emphasis mine) as well as the CC mechanisms its no wonder that so many top-ranked teams include at least one rogue.
I think that in my heart I am definately still a rogue player but I don't see many decent rogues unless I look up some of the contributors at Warcraftmovies.com.....what I do see is a lot of rogues hunting in packs and ganking clothies on 50% health which is frankly just pathetic. Warrior can be an interesting class to play by the looks of it (only ever bothered levelling mine to the mid 30's or so) but a Priest......a Discipline priest is insane when they're well played. |

Re: The Next Legend
I don't get it, why dont you play warlock? Sure, playing decently a class is easy, at the time I can say i am good at being a PvP lock, but to really play a lock to 100% takes an incredible ammount of awareness, experience and reflexes, which i wish ill get someday.
Besides, nowdays its warriors and rogues the easiest targets of the "no skill" comments, mainly because its easier to get them to higher 2v2 arena rankings. |

Re: The Next Legend
*nod*
Nothing wrong with sticking with a Warlock, especially if you can make it as destruction (which requires a different set of skills, which seem to be less commonly found that with the really good affliction locks). Wrath of the Lich King is going to offer some insane possibilities for destro pvp.... Quote:

Re: The Next Legend
If the pursuit of excellence is important to you, OP then learn to disregard negative comments about the warlock class (or in fact any class you happen to play). Facts are that the same people that say "lol fear dot dot dot lol" etc when you beat them with a lock will be the same people that say "omg backstab poison cloak of skill lol" or "charge spamstring execute lol OP" or whatever the classes decent moves happen to be. In fact why waste your time trying to impress these people? Does it have any real consequence in your life? In a couple of years it really won't matter and you'll wonder why you wasted your time and energy.
Don't let it become a ****tail of pride and insecurity. It's a bitter taste... ![]() You want to play a class that takes skill and excels in PvP. A class on it's own won't do that. Do you want something that has a PvP advantage and yet takes skill? To play any class to the peak of it's powers takes a good knowledge of the game mechanics, fast reactions and nimble fingers. All classes in the right hands can own, and in the eyes of others that can be misinterpreted as "easy mode". If you wish to be seen as a "skilled" warlock, get yourself to 70 and learn to beat Rogues, Warriors and BM hunters regularly. If you were a mage your challenge would be warlocks, if you were a warrior then you'd need to beat frost mages. See how it works? |

Re: The Next Legend
For me, the most important decision on another character was seeing the game from a very different perspective.
I chose Rogue and it is superb being able to do all that sneaking round and up-close work that you never get to see as a lock (almost completely opposite really). You see each quest and challenge in a very different and game re-enlivening light. Other classes Hunter - too much pet like work - very similar Priest - Who wants to be a healer :-( And shadow is just a wannabee Lock without the pets Warrior - Very different (no subtlety at all :-( ) but one fellow lock loves it for being up close and dirty Druid - possibly for the different forms but .... Paladin, Shaman - Dont know but dont fancy Mage - Why choose this if you can be a Lock!! Just my thoughts for what they are worth :-) |

Re: The Next Legend
I'm really enjoying my warrior which is a fairly newb 70. One important point on PVP'ing with him though is that I've found that he seems to be extremely gear dependent. (much more so than I felt my warlock was) It wasn't until I started upgrading my gear that I felt he had any serious damage output and survivabilty. That could be because everyone these days is running around in close to full S3/Vindi gear.
I can tell you it is fun killing rogues though. Heck getting on top of pretty much anyone and bashing their toon to pieces is fun. |
