So I'm leveling a Druid
Profile: The World of Warcraft Armory
Anyway last night I did my first healing run in Stockades and it was quite fun for a change of pace. I've decided I'm going to stay Feral for now, and wondering if I should just level to 55-56 till Wrath of the Lich King comes out and then respec Resto then and heal for all the new Death Knights running Scholo, Strat, DM and the like. Or should I stick it out and try to get to 70 asap in which case I'll be healing for end game content. A few other questions: AGI should be the main focus as a Feral Druid right? Which other stats should I pay attention to? How hard is it to do the dailies as Resto? I've got Herb+Skinning right now as my main source of income but would consider dropping skinning for Alchemy if they get anything nice in Wrath of the Lich King otherwise keeping it for the quick gold. Any guides or advice on my Druid is much appreciated. |

Re: So I'm leveling a Druid
Well, when it comes to druids, you have made it thru the hard part. Druids can be slow and painful until you get kitty at 20, then it just gets easier and easier. Stat wise, feral kitties love AGI. STR is nice too, but AGI give you AP and crit and you live on AP and crit.
Make yourself a macro to shift outta kitty, cast rejuv on yourself and shift back to kitty. This way, you kill something, hit one button, and are healing yourself while you position for the next kill. Once you get Improved Leader of the Pack, you will heal yourself enough that you won't need to shift and heal as often. Interesting idea to hold the druid at 55-60 to heal all those DKs when the expansion comes out. Not a bad idea. Will give you lots of instance helaing experience. The only negative is your main endgame healing spell, Lifebloom, is not available until 64. Still, you can get Tree form by then, and come the expansion , you will be able to cast Healing Touch in Tree form. I had so much fun leveling my druid. Once Kitty form gets cooking, you kill stuff very quick, heal yourself easily, have several emergency buttons (dash, bear form, healing, bark skin) that keeps you from getting killed much. Stealth > pounce > shred > claw (or mangle when you get it) > Rip > dance! I actually used to dance in front of the mobs waiting for them to die from all the bleed effects ![]() No idea how hard it is to do dailies as resto as my druid is normally feral. Re: So I'm leveling a Druid
As far as dailies go, raid specced restro is a nightmare, pvp specced still sucks but is a little more manageable, but restrokin they are very easy.
If you are going to wait for the DK's, wait at 58. The quests for their gear and talent points will take them halfway to 58 right now, so most probably wont be doing many pre-bc instances. I know I won't be. |

Re: So I'm leveling a Druid
Honestly.. I stayed feral. Once you get mangle, you'll be leveling so fast you won't know what's happening. Get to the level cap, picking up healing gear on your way, and worry about healing experience once you're there. Druid healing is very, very simple, once you get the hang of it and set up the right addons.
About 6 weeks ago I was just hitting 70, with my resto blue pvp set and essence focuser. Now I'm healing ZA 3 chest/4 chest runs, 5/9 BT and 4/5 Hyjal with archi to 12%. Getting geared as resto is easy. Voodoo Shaker offhand, Grovewalker Leggings from badge rewards, S2 mace, kara/etc gear can carry you a long way if you gem/enchant it all. |

Re: So I'm leveling a Druid
What AddOns are useful for me?
Also does their attack rotations/healing rotations play much of a role? So far I've been experimenting with my Cat and healing one. Normally I open with the DoT one, then build up Combo points till I can get the bleed one and by that time its normally dead. With healing I keep them topped up with the DoT, do a small heal when they start to drop with the medium heal with the dot and if they get real low then the big heal. (Sorry I forget the names of the spells) Anyway I might just go all the way to 70, I'm at 27 now and having quite a bit of fun so we'll see. Right now I just want to get to 30 for travel form and mount (both in 1 shot )Also a bit off topic but looking at the mounts the main NE one is decent (the only Ally mount I like) but I was thinking of getting something different (no PvP ones though), I could get the Talbuk but I've already farmed the rep for it on my Lock and tired of Ogre killing. Most of the drop ones seem quite rare, maybe the Chicken one if its still there. Maybe get one of the new ones in Wrath of the Lich King. |

Re: So I'm leveling a Druid
Hi Winter,
Levelling a druid is real fun if you have patience upto level 50's. After getting mangle ability, it goes very smoothly. I have used as reference, Mihir's Druid Levelling guide. It is very simple but effective. You can find this guide at druid wiki. Feral levelling is the easiest way to level but you may try to level as resto (not adviced but if you like it who can say anything )Other than slow levelling at early levels, there is one thing I need to say about druids: You will need lots of bag space. Because, you need to carry DPS set, Tank Set, and healing set with you. You may not know when you will need to be tank or healer, unless you have strict planning to follow one path as dps, tank or healer. But remember one thing: Druid means flexible playing. You have to adapt yourself according to situation. Good Luck and have fun ![]() |

Re: So I'm leveling a Druid
LOL yeah! Much different perspective on bosses when you are tanking. As a DPS warlock, you are sitting there, on say Prince, max range, just DPSing. As a tank, you get a nice big up close shot of ... his crotch. All the time. Any boss that is huge in stature like that, you just get to look at ... crotch.

Re: So I'm leveling a Druid
A lot of people will tell you to load up on agility for cat form, since it does give you 1 attack power for each point of agility and gives you +crit%. One thing you should keep in mind though is that 1 point of strength will give you 2 attack power in all forms (caster, bear, cat). So I would recommend on getting gear with +stamina and +strength on it (usually "XYZ of the bear" gear) in slots where you know you can enchant agility. Slots like gloves/cloak/boots come to mind.
If you can get a good bracer with agility on it like Barbaric bracers, you can get a strength enchant on it for more attack power; or even get stamina enchant if you feel you are a little low on health. I'd check wowhead or thottbot for enchants to see where you can enchant agility, or strength, or stamina; and then try to find gear for those slots with the stats you want that you can't enchant. And you don't have to crazy on enchants either, some of the lower level ones like +3 or +5 can help give you that extra little bit; and you can probably make a lower level enchanter's day. |
