Re: Why are Locks rerolling to DK's?
I rolled a DK's for the first time a month ago and have not looked back! My lock is still my main but i needed a change up for a while (grind,grind,grind)... WOW is the first RPG that I have played and I loved the minion for the locks so there I was. Although i realized that she just doesn't get much notice for raids and instance groups in my guild. Whenever they need me they call for the dk which is a level 71. How do you show people that we are still viable in groups... All i ever hear is "LF tank / LF hlr in raid"... ![]() With that said i tried out a druid for healing capabilities and just HATED it!!! Nothing like wearing cloth early on with no minon to take the heat

Re: Why are Locks rerolling to DK's?
I main switched to a Death Knight at the start of LK. After the shadow bolt spam fest that was Tiers 5 & 6 and the sudden resurgence of spirit, I was ready to try something new. A death knight has a lot of similarities to playing a warlock - you have the potential to do tremendous damage, you're tough enough to take a shot or two, you have a pet (if specced unholy) and you use DoTs. I used to joke about the only thing a warlock needed was plate, and in a way, DK fits that niche quite well. |

Re: Why are Locks rerolling to DK's?
I rerolled a DK when Wrath of the Lich King came out becouse locks were severly crippled even before Wrath of the Lich King came out. The new talents trees at that time had me putting out less than a green geared mage, so it gave me somthing to do while i waited for the talent trees to get back to a acceptable level. I am back on my lock that and that seems to be the trend since you cant pay someone to take a DK on any raid. |

Re: Why are Locks rerolling to DK's?
I've only recently began leveling my lock, so this isn't an issue I've wrestled with for months and months now. Only recently have I truly come to personally understand the parallels between the two classes (I have both a warlock and a death knight, the latter of which I've played since beta). Death knights are fun to play, I'll give them that. They're also easy to play and everyone and their dog does so, former warlocks or not. I have a friend and guildmate that depresses me a bit with this. He's largely why I decided to level my lock as high as I had. We barely had any in the guild and he was always number one. Very prideful of the class. Well, a few months ago, he declares that he's done with his lock and he wants to tank as a death knight. Tells me that they're basically warlocks in plate. The more and more I level my warlock, the more and more I begin to resent his decision to stop playing his in favor of a stupid, stupid death knight. I used to love talking to him about the class. Now I've become silly about it and think to myself, when he begins ranting about whatever new nerf we're getting, "What gives you the right?" The worst part is, he can't even gear up to do what he wants to do as a death knight. It's pretty damn hard getting geared to tank properly as a death knight, and then when he does? No one's gonna take him to do anything other than DPS anyway. If he still played his lock? He'd be geared for Ulduar by now. Sad as it may be, it's really made me hate death knights. Not the PvP or the fact that we have a thousand undead Legolases running around now, but that. It really turns me off to ever leveling my own. |

Re: Why are Locks rerolling to DK's?
It's interesting to read this thread and see how many of the predictions are true. Yes, there are now a LOT of DK's, at least on my server (Wyrnrest Accord). I have a DK, but frankly am a bit less than interested in leveling him. I've considered deleting him (after transferring the gold, of course) and rerolling a hunter, since that's the only class I don't have yet among all my alts. The primary thing that makes me detest DK's, at least in the 60-70'ish range, is the total lack of skill in playing the character that I find. It's like you have a bunch of high-power noobs with no clear idea what their character can do trying to play with other people who have been playing their toons for probably at least a few months (real time). Disappointing. Very disappointing. It makes any DK who actually knows what he or she is doing a much-appreciated breath of fresh air.

Re: Why are Locks rerolling to DK's?
The short answer as to why so many new DK's is simple.. follow the money. DK's offer so many advantages to acuqiring the vast amount of gold needed in this game. First of all, they have an amazing movement speed bonus while Mounted and a decent one while running. This makes it easier to acquire mines, herbs etc, especially noticebale when farming older mats , where flying mounts are not available. The second way they can acquire money is their speed at clearing out instances and they can solo some instances that many other classes simply can not. They never need to stop and drink and can area of effect down dozens of lower level mobs at once. I think a properly geared/specced blood dk can solo any instance up to maybe Violet Hold. Maybe higher, not too sure but I'll bet there are some movies out there. Send the loot to an enchanter or DE it yourself and a DK can roll in the money. The third way is the cost savings from all the gear advantages. For example, a level 59 Warlock trying to PVP would have to buy some items to supplement their gear. A DK gets all those free blues and a free epic mount. Follow the money and you will follow the classes, no coincidence that paladins, Dks and Hunters are used so much. |

Re: Why are Locks rerolling to DK's?
rogue/warlock/mage are the least rolled characters in WOW. pally and DK are at the top of the list and hunter in-between. shaman's weren't even mentioned. priests are also in the category of least rolled. |

But I can't even walk down the street (IC) without bumping into a dozen DK's and (maybe a tiny bit less so) pallys. As has been said before, it's starting to be World of Deathknights ...
