Leveling as Arcane
After 20+ levels of Fire, then almost 40 levels of Frost, my lil' mage jumped to Arcane once Arcane Blast became trainable. There's still a few questions on my mind though: 1) Which 2 major glyphs do I take? 2) Is Arcane Barrage ever useful with its high mana cost, outside of PvP? 3) How high should I stack my Arcane Blast debuff before using AM/ABarr? (Note: all these questions are pertaining to leveling!) Not the best place to ask these, but any answers will be greatly appreciated!

if you're lvling I would take the Ablast glyph (+3% per stack) and Evoc ( healing with evoc as well) Ablast will prob waste anything before they get close to you, and if you do get hit then you can recover quickly with evoc which is on a 2min CD ( assuming you're specced right as an arcane mage ). I use abar when i was kiting elites... sometimes mobs won't die fast enough with ablast so i use it in conjunction. stacking your debuff... I would go 3xAB => if missile barrage then use AM otherwise Abar... this should be better on your mana pool then spamming AB |

I don't recommend leveling as Arcane. The Dps is amazing, but you will have mana issues, even with the improved cooldown. A lot of quests that involve grinding are easier as frost too. But if you insist on going the Arcane route: a) i'd probably go with glyph of evocation and glyph of mage armor.The evocation is handy and will reduce downtime from all those little nicks and scratches before you get a solid pattern down or that wandering add you just didn't see. Glyph of mage armor will give you extra mana and the crit from molten armor probably isn't worth it with your extremely high dps/high mana use anyhow. 2) Arcane barrage should be fine to add into your rotation. 3) Will depend on your gear. By using 3 rounds of Arcane Blast, it will be more mana intensive and Arcane Blast's longer, slower casting time will let mobs catch up to you. A better rotaion would probably be open with Arcane Blast, follow with Arcane missiles and if the mob is still alive, use Arane barrage to finish. |

I just found out the hard way that I can't go past 100% mana regen with the Mage Armor glyph (talents give 50%, mage armor gives 50%). Bummer, looks like Arcane Blast and Evocate glyphs for me. |
