alt-o-holic goes insane, levels rogue - help
so my main is a warlock but i have this bad habit of rolling alts anytime there's nothing going on - or when i happen to get one of those alts naxx ready and can't find a naxx run, as is the case with my tank! anyway. for whatever reason i rolled a rogue this afternoon because it's probably the only class i know absolutely nothing about. it's the only class i haven't leveled at least to 20... anyone have some good suggestions for leveling? such as builds, strategies, and what not. FYI - don't do it doesn't count as a tip! :p thanks.. |

Uhm, I think going combat and simply killing stuff would be the fastest way to level a rogue. You got no aoe, no pet, no ranged slow and no heal so lvling is slow compared to most classes as you'll usually not want to pull more than one mob at a time and soloing elite quests is very hard. Just ignore cc and kill the mobs, think that would be the fastest.

Hehe, you are by no means crazy... I leveled a rogue to 70 myself, because I wanted to know how our counter class worked... Of course, I had tons of fun along the way  Really, any of the three tree's is ok for leveling, but my personal favorite was always Combat swords. Most rogues starting out will use the Gouge>Backstab trick, but that is not always feasible, and not a very... how should I say this, a smooth/efficient, way of grinding. You will want a slow, hard hitting mainhand, and a quick offhand. Your bread and butter ability will be sinister strike, and it's damage is based on the damage of your mainhand. Basically as combat, you want slice and dice up for as long as possible. So your rotation would be Sinister Strike>SnD>SS>SS-spam>Evisc at 5 combo points. Depending on the mob, sometimes stealthing and opening up with Garrote might be a good choice. Combat also offers some good leveling talents that give stam and energy regeneration. Think of it like the offspring of a rogue and fury warrior; it doesn't depend on stealth as much as Sub, or even Assassination. I must admit, I can see the allure. Many times if a boss wouldn't drop the gear I wanted, I would wait a level or two, stealth to him, and burn him down using Evasion and the plethora of other survival techniques you have. (This of course lasted till 50 or so when bosses started getting harder). WARNING: As a rogue you WILL feel like ganking people alot more often

I recently leveled a rogue to 49 and twinked him out so for now leeaving him at 49. Pretty quick way to level is go combat. Once you get blade furry & adrenaline rush you can kill multiple mobs (3-4) pretty easily. Till then just stealth ( on mobs your level or higher) cheap shot, Slice n dice, sinister strike till you get a combo point or 2, kidney shot,repeat while keeping slice n dice up. Took me about 6 weeks to level to 80 on my rogue. ShadowPanther.net - World of Warcraft Rogue Info - Charts, Articles, Guides & more! has useful info on gear and builds. I went sub spec (pvp) for the lvling and didnt stop, very quick to level and being on a pvp realm I was able to gank freely. I took JC and engineering as I have a miner, engineering I kept up to date and had some great items for low level, JC I plodded along with till 80 then maxxed it pretty easy. Great fun to play, especially coming form a lock background |
