Why no Darkness?

So I decided that I wanted to roll a new healer for myself because I actually enjoy it more then anything else in the game. So I made me a priest. And I have been looking around at diffrent talent build sites and every one of them doesn't have any points in Darkness. (Im going to go duel spec once I hit 40 so leveling as shadow for now) They have points in Improved spirit tap but what Im curious is why don't they have any points in Darkness? I would have thought that extra damage would be a good thing. If someone could please explain I would be most grateful. Of course that also means Im going to have to go respec too now lol.

Re: Why no Darkness?

OMG, its true. Warlocks have been messed up so much that people are mistaking them for shadow priests.

Uhm... as a healer, your job is to heal, not to do damage. So what do you want a damage increasing talent for?

edit: also, when will people understand that it's called DUAL spec, not DUEL spec.

Re: Why no Darkness?

Pretty much what was said above: Your job as a healer is to HEAL. Not do damage, so you want to make sure all your talents are in something relevant to your 'job'.

Also; I agree with you lilsteele.

Re: Why no Darkness?

they're talking about leveling as a priest, and playing in shadow for leveling, and how no shadow builds have darkness.
they're not talking about "why doesn't my disc healing build have darkness"
shadow priests are dps, priests aren't just for healing.

@op: it's probably because the points are better spent in something other than a raw damage increase, though I'm not certain.

Re: Why no Darkness?

Ya I didn't exactly make that post real clear when I said I was rolling a priest for healing. I am leveling as shadow because I have heard its a whole lot easier to level that way rather then as holy/disc. And I guess that makes sense but I would think that eventually that extra boost in damage would be a good thing. and as for why I said duel and not dual well thats just cause I can't spell lol

Oh yeah... I seem to have missed the text in brackets where you say you are levelling as shadow for now. Sorry

Did a mini (google) research. It seems that you first want to be self-sustained, i.e. after killing a mob you want to be as close to full health and mana as possible, to speed up the levelling process. One levelling guide I found started putting points in Darkness around level 30 or 40, once you have aquired several other key talents in the tree.
Hope this helps.
