DK unholy & blood rotations & macros
A few days ago I made a thread asking about what alt I should make, narrowed down to warrior or DK. Ended up going with the DK and at 64, enjoying it. So... I'm not 100% sure on a rotation for either unholy or blood. Yes, I looked at EJ. Jumping into a new toon after playing only a warlock since vanilla, confuses me a bit. Being melee is a refreshing change, but what am I supposed to do first? EJ says something like "diseases, DnD, etc...", etc being other abilities, but what diseases and which one first? I get it. I'm a newb to the DK class, but EJ doesn't seem to be too clear on what the rotation should be. I've only been playing as unholy so far. Though I have already bought duel spec and done up a blood spec. So for starters, I'd like to get better at unholy. Being a warlock, I use a few macros. Are their any great macros for unholy? I've tried making a macro to use Dark Transformation, when a few other abilities are hit, but those macros don't seem to work.  Only 2 macros I've done that actually work are for the ghoul to use claw on target and the other makes me use... the one to reduce damage... can't recall the name (not currently on WoW), but it's in the frost spellbook tab.

I don't pretend to be an expert at the DK class, but here's my setup: Unholy Spec - Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft This gets me four diseases and pushes the damage of my Death Coil quite a bit. Not to mention popping 'roids on my ghoul. Unholy Stat priority - With my current gear, I use Items - World of Warcraft Unholy rotation - Diseases first is right, but I pretty much wing it from there. Icy Touch, Plague Strike, (if in a pack: Pestilence), Blood Boil -- Four diseases up! Use Dark Transformation whenever possible Death Coil your target to get Unholy Blight going Death & Decay if your tank has aggro on the group Keep your gargoyle on cooldown Death Strike / Scourge Strike / Festering Strike as they become available Only use Army of the Dead if the tank / healer can handle mobs going nuts My experience with Blood is pretty nil at this point. Blood Spec - Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft Death Knight Builds may give you some good ideas to make it better.

For a good guide CLC Dk addon can help with rotations untill you know what to do. |

I play my lock and DK tank equally atm. So one of the best resources for DK's is pwnwear, mainly about tanking though. But this is good as lets face it, the world needs more tanks to reduce the queue times for our locks :D Anyway, the disease order is normally like so: Outbreak | ((Icy Touch | Chains of Ice) + Plague Strike) Basically if you have the skill (at 82 i believe) and Outbreak is off CD, open with that as it gets both up right away. Otherwise use Chains if you need to slow the mob or Icy Touch for more damage/agro then follow wiht Plague. If >1 mob then Pestilence. If specced for Scarlet Fever then cast BloodBoil to reduce their melee damage by 10%. Finally you can get into your crusing rotation which is normally spamming RuneStrike if up, HeartStrike then DeathStrike. Try and keep DeathStrikes at least a few seconds apart to maximise your BloodShield usage. If pulling a lot of mobs, open with a Death and Decay. Extra credit bonus tips: Blood Tap should always be used when off CD to get an extra rune Rune Tap if glyphed can help the healer by healing your group as well. Try and use VampyricBlood just before to boost your self heal. Keep BoneShield up if specced You have 2 interrupts, MindFreeze and Strangulate - use them a lot in Cata 5-mans DarkSimulacrum is similar to Mages SpellSteal ability - use it wisely Try and time IBF to incoming big hits About to die? Pop your ghoul now and then cast Death Pact for a big heal. |

if tanking get bloodshield tracker addon, gives a good idea when best to use death strike |

I got the CLC DK add-on. Used it for 2-3 instances and so far, not understanding what makes it say which ability to use next. The opener 2 abilities it has me use is always the same, but from there I'm all over the place on my action bar. Confusing when it decides to change it's mind too, before I even click on what it says to do. |
