Alliance Succubus Quest (For Humans and Gnomes)

Devourer of Souls
Succubus Quest for Humans and Gnomes

To obtain this quest you need to head back and see Gakin the Darkbinder who's inside The Slaughtered Lamb. Although most of you will be familiar with this area by now if you need help getting there have a look at the Stormwind Trainers Guide. Once you're there right click him to start the quest off.
"The Succubus is a devourer of souls, destroyer of hearts, and dominator of minds. It knows nothing but evil. This will be the creature you learn to summon and control, but it cannot be brought into the world without a stimulus."

The quest then directs you find Takar the Seer who is located in The Barrens. As this is Horde territory I am curious to know how it will be on PvP servers, but as I was on PvE when doing this follow the directions below.

To get started head over to the Griffons in Stormwind, there are a few different options depending on what flight paths you have already opened. If you have unlocked The Wetlands flight path take a Griffon there, if you have opened up the Loch Modan path which is near Thelmasar head there and if you have neither of those two opened take a flight to Ironforge. From Ironforge you need to follow the path to Loch Modan, I have outlined the path on the map below.

After you have zoned through to Loch Modan you want to take path through to the Wetlands. If you have come the flight path straight to this zone you will actually end up lower down on the map that what is indicated above so just follow the path north until you reach the top. Zone through to the Wetlands and follow the path, it will lead you through a few tunnels but if you stick to the path you can't go wrong. Follow the path all the way around to Menethil Harbor, there are mobs along the way ranging in level's but the highest I saw was a level 22 and since I had my Voidwalker up it was no problems. When you come to Menethil Harbor go over the bridge and in the first gate, take a left and follow it around until you see the docs. They're not hard to miss so run around till you find them, also you pass the Griffon Master for Wetlands so you can activate that too. If you have taken the flight direct to here just find the docks

When you reach the docks you want to speak to the Boat Operator. At the moment he is called Captain Placeholder as the boats aren't currently implemented. This also means a quick teleport for you instead of a boat ride. Right click on him and select 'Journey to Auberdene!' You'll see the loading screen and next you should be in Darkshore with lots of Night Elves around. Head up and out of the area you are in until you see the path and then follow that south till the end - there is nothing in this zone that should kill you as it appears to be a 5-10 ish zone. When you zone into Ashenvale I suggest sticking to the path if you don't want to be hassled. As you come into the area the mobs are relatively low level however the further down you travel the higher they get, eventually getting up to around 27 - 29. I had my voidwalker summoned while running through and let him hold off anything that jumped me while I kept running

Now comes the fun part... The Barrens! Something that I wasn't told when doing it which I will pass on to you... when you come to the entrance, don't try and run through the main gate... they seem to not like you doing that. Thank you Voidwalker Summon #4 for holding that surprise back for me I've included a screenshot below that point out the entrance to take on the left. Go through there and then get on to the path when you feel it's safe. Stick to the path and follow it down, when you're coming up to The Crossroads you are going to want to detour around it as there are more guards in there. Most of the mobs leading up to there are either friendly or low enough level that you really shouldn't have a problem. Once you have gone around The Crossroads make your way back onto the path and continue down.

When you get down to where the X is on the middle map above you want to look out to your left for a tree with a small white tent next to it. That's where you will find Takar the Seer, when you get there right click on him to get the next part of the quest. Mobs around this are do vary from 16 to around 22 but I ducked and weaved my way through them and then left my Voidwalker to attack anything that tried to jump me. When you get the next part of the quest two ghost Night Elves will appear on the black dish there and they will re-enact out the story Takar tells. Don't get a fright when they appear like I did

Once you have that you want to head back to Ashenvale the way you came, remembering to go around The Crossroads and take the side exit to avoid guards. When your back in Ashenvale you need to find the tree surrounded by Warlocks. Follow the road almost back up to the top but before you get back to Darkshore veer off to the right. You can't miss the tree really, it's surrounded by Warlocks with mostly Voidwalker and some Imp pets. They are solo-able as you can pick them off one by one, however it's always nice to have a friend along for ease. Unlike the Orc Voidwalker quest you can't kill the pets and caster's separately, when you pull one you get the other. My tactic was to send my Voidwalker pet to attack their Voidwalker pet while I nuked the caster. Their spells will hit you for around the 50's and 60's where yours will hit for 80's and 90's so you get them down pretty quick.

The tree you need is behind the area of mobs with no pet's. Right click it to loot, if it's not there on the first time don't panic, just try again. Once you have that you want to head back to Stormwind. As I was still bound at the Inn there I used my stone to get back to quick way. Once your back you need to go see Gakin the Darkbinder again for the next part. Once you have done that part head down to where you fought the Voidwalker to the summoning circle. In case you have forgotten :

"Go down the ramp and then down the stairs and turn right at the end. This will force you down another flight of stairs and you will come to a T intersection, here you want to turn right and then go to end where you will see yet another flight of stairs and turn... guess which way? That's right... turn right. At the bottom of those stairs you will turn left, and then nearly directly after you will come across a flight of stairs on your left again. If you go down these you should come into a room with pink markings on the ground and a female standing off to the right."

Summon your Succubus and get ready for battle. I found her really easy after I whacked my dots and Voidwalker on her, I basically sat back and waited. Once she's dead head back up to Gakin for the final hand in! When I handed in it automatically scribed itself into my spell book, so don't go looking through your bags and panicking like I did for 10 minutes Once you have it, summon your new pet!

Re: Alliance Succubus Quest (For Humans and Gnomes)

Can I suggest an easier way to get to the tent in The Barrens..

1. Get to Menethil Harbour.

2. Get the flight path

3. Take the left side boat to Theramore Harbour

4. Get the flight path

5. Run north along the coast till you get to the alliance held fort. The beach is safe from mobs. The water isnt, so dont swim...

6. here either turn left and head to the quest tent

7. or run a bit further up the beach to Ratchet, and get the flight path. There are some pirates to run past, but they're around level 13-15.

8. Once you receive the quest for heartwood, run all the way north along the gold road. Do not enter the orc held gates, but take the right hand path, through ruined gates, and enter Ashenvale.

9. Breath a sigh of relief

that's how you get here! the link to the walk through with images doesn't work. I remember it had a map showing where the tent was. Follow Cyphyllis's advice.

Re: Alliance Succubus Quest (For Humans and Gnomes)

Akasha I have to admit I also am having problems accessing the pics? I get an error message saying "Forbidden, you don't have permission to access. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered" ... can you please advise? This happened when I tried to access your link above. I also cannot open the "full picture version" link as it gives me "Page not Found".

Maybe it's something I am doing wrong?
Sorry to be a nuisance

Re: Alliance Succubus Quest (For Humans and Gnomes)

Just managed to do the quest. May i talk about a way to get the heartswood with minimal fighting: It is recommended you start with the Voidwalker.

1: Start from the outpost directly south of the tree.

2: Hugging the hills, approach the tree.

3: You'll have to thin out a few enemies. Only kill the ones that you risk inadvertently pulling.

4: Have the voidwalker distract the guard on the south side of the tree.

5: Take the wood, and run for it. Or just Hearthstone to your home.

(Sorry if this tip is not clear, im not very good at explaining things)
