Alliance Felhunter Quest
Quest Basics:
Version : Human, Alliance Starts with : Gakin the Darkbinder Ends with : Strahad Farsan Can start at : Level 30 Best at : Low 30's _________________________________________________ To obtain this quest you need to head back and see Gakin the Darkbinder who's inside The Slaughtered Lamb. Although most of you will be familiar with this area by now if you need help getting there have a look at the Stormwind Trainers Guide. Once you're there right click him to start the quest off. It is time you learned the felhunter summoning. Akasha, I do not have the reagents and items necessary to teach you here, so you will have to seek out another, Strahad Farsan, another of our inner circle. He makes his residence in the goblin port of Ratchet. I will send work ahead of you to inform him of your coming. Now that you have the quest it's time to start your journey to Ratchet. To get there you need to head to The Barrens, and there are numerous ways to get there. I chose to go through The Wetlands and Dustwallow Marsh. From Stormwind I took a tram to Ironforge and jumped on a Griffon to The Wetlands. There I took a boat to Theramore Island and ran through Dustwallow Marsh (map) to The Barrens, from there you run up to Ratchet (map). To find Strahad, when you come into Ratchet you want to head up the left side, as you are coming down the path you will see a very large tree on your left, if you run to the right of that and up the hill, you will find Strahad hiding up and around the back (follow the arrow). Once you find him, grab the next stage of your quest. Now you need to head all the way back to Ironforge, you will find Krom Stoutarm in the Library, I have marked it on a map for you. Krom wants you to fetch the Tomb which was vandalized and is now in lying on the shore with one page in the hands of the Centaur. It's up to you which order you do them but I headed to Southshore to get the book first. If you have been to Southshore before you can just jump on a Griffon and head straight there. If you haven't yet made it to Southshore you need to run though Loch Modan to The Wetlands, from there through Arathi Highlands and into Hillsbrand Foothills. Incase you haven't been there yet I have included maps below to help you find your way. Best bet is to stick to the path really. Wetlands ~ Arathi ~ Hillsbrad. On the third map, with Southshore, I have marked in yellow where to go to find the book. Head out from Southshore and head west along the beach. You will pass through multiple Murloc camps, and if you haven't already, grab the quest in town that requires you to kill them... kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Head west to the southern most tip of land, where I have marked the X. There you will find the book right next to the water in the middle of the Murloc camp. Right click and loot. (Disclaimer : Other Warlocks have reported the book spawning at camps to either side of the X, so if it is not there, check surrounding areas.) Now that you have the first piece, it's time to head off to Thousand Needles. From Southshore take a flight back to The Wetlands and then a boat to Theramore Island. Like last time run through Dustwallow Marsh and into the Barrens, but this time instead of heading North to The Barrens, you want to head South. If you follow the path eventually you will come to the edge of a cliff with some Tauren guarding a lift. There are two guards which you can single pull and kill. Once those are dead walk out on one of the Platforms, doesn't matter which and catch the lift down. We expected more guards at the bottom but once we got down found it deserted. When you come down the lift, hug the cliff wall and head for the first cave (map). There are a few mobs scattered around but nothing to really worry about. You will start to see a few Centaurs as you get closer to the cave, all soloable. When you head into the cave follow the wall to your right, as you move down that you will see water running though, hop over that and on the other side, up on the left you will find the damaged chest. Loot this to receive your last piece. Once you have those, head back to Krom Stoutarm in Ironforge and hand them in. Krom tells you that Strahad sent a message stating his acolytes will require three rods of channeling to assist with the summoning of the Felhunter. To acquire these you need to head back to The Wetlands and kill Dragonmaw's, specifically the spell casters. Take a griffon to the Wetlands and follow the path out to the Dragonmaw's. I marked the path to them on the map, they go quiet deep back into the mountains and I found spell casters more towards the back. The Bonewarder's are the ones you want, and although they don't drop a rob each time, it took me no more than 20 minutes to get all three. Once you have all three head back to Ratchet. Since you are already in Westfall, run back to the docks and jump on the boat. Once you get to Strahad, hand in both the book and the rods. He will now tell you that you are ready to summon and destroy the Felhunter in order to obtain one of your own. Strahad will tell you to be ready and lead you into the area just to the left of him. I recommend making sure you have a pet up before you do the hand in as I waited and found I didn't really have the time after he started walking, luckily I had a pet Pally with me. Strahad will stand in the middle and cast a spell, following that the three helpers will all work together to bring you your summoning circle. When you see the circle appear on the ground, start the summon of your Felhunter and like normal attack him once he spawns. I had no trouble defeating him and with a pet I could have easily done him solo. Once defeated follow Strahad back out and complete your quest. Congratulations, you now have your next pet! You don't have permission to access /wow/pets/human/felhunter/Dustwallow.jpg on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/1.3.37 Server at images.wowmb.net Port |

Re: Alliance Felhunter Quest
I just used this guide this weekend to acquire my Felhunter and it worked out very well! Thank you again for excellent information, Akasha. If I could I would like to add a few points for other players like me that may be new to the game or just need an extra hint or two(like me)
.1. Refer to the maps that come with this guide! The dotted pathlines helped a lot. Since I already had the flight plan to Ratchet from the Succubus quest, I just flew in so that part was easy. But the map with the path from Dustwallow Marsh to the Great Lifts was invaluable. It helped that I had it printed out so I didn't have to stop and pull up the ingame map too. 2. If you don't want to fight your way through the camps of Murlocs to get to the camp with the book, you can follow along on the edge of the cliff overlooking the beach until you reach the correct camp. I solo'd the entire quest chain and didn't have help at the Murloc Camp. Most of the Murlocs were ranged so I found it impossible to pull them by one's or two's. The entire camp would come running. I died twice until I figured out to send in the voidwalker and let him get as much aggro as possible from the entire camp. While everyone was focused on him I dashed in and grabbed the book. Others probably thought of this way before I did, but like I said I need an extra hint or two. 3. At the Great Lifts, a lovely warrior had already killed the guards for me so I don't know if this is true or not, but PVE Allies be aware that you may be flagged PVP after killing them. I read that on another site, so again I'm not sure how true it is. But there will be Horde questing in the area so be on guard or hide out until it wears off. 4. Again, if you consult the map then you won't have the trouble I did- but go right when you get off the lift! If you hug the cliff wall like the guide says you can get all the way to the cave without aggroing just about anything even when you pass the Centaur village. I had to fight one centaur that was directly in my path, but that's it. 5. Once in the cave, be aware that if you get lost(like I did) there is another chest in the cave. However if you mouse over it, it says something other than "damaged chest". Do not spend 20 minutes trying to jump up on the ledge and get it whilst fighting off respawns. Eventually I figured it out and went back to the front of the cave and followed the correct direction. Also hearthing is a time saver once you get your loot. 6. Have you figured out by now that I like sneaking around instead of blasting my way through the middle? Soooo... at the Dragonmaw camp back in the Wetlands if you run along and on top of the hills between the road and the camp coming from the direction of Menethil Harbor, almost at the end of the camp there are two tents. Under the tents are two casters with minions. I cleared the two non-caster adds in front of the tent and then sent the VW in to aggro the two casters and their minions. I'm going Demon spec so I do have the Imp VW and he held the aggro like a charm while I Dotted everyone up and then nuked them one by one. They both dropped rods so I just ran back the way I came until I saw another caster with only one add underneath a tent. He dropped a rod too(yay!). All done. I only mention this because there was another Warlock in the camp who was grantedly kicking butts and taking names; but he was fighting all the non-casters and their adds to get to one caster and kept having to sacrifice his VW to run off. He was still there when I left. I just wanted to point out some of the mistakes I made or things that confused me in the hopes that they can help someone else doing the quest later. One more thing-This Felhunter is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. I had quite a giggle running through IF with him and seeing newbies back up when they thought they were being attacked. ![]() |
