Dealing with Shaman in 2 v 2
Hey guys. Been running my 2 v 2 team quite a bit and have started getting our rating into the 1650 range. My team has 3 members, a shadow priest and an affliction lock, and me. We've had the most success running with the 2 locks.
My spec is 20/41/0 and his is 47/14/0 so we both have very potent dots. He runs with the felhunter and I run with the felguard. We win probably 75% of our matches but the re-occurring them is that we've been losing to teams with a Shaman. Since we are both horde and always have been we are relatively new at taking them out. Our overall toughest combo to beat seemed to be a shammy + Feral druid The problem we mainly have is getting our dots on either of the members. The times we've won against them have been going all out on the shaman while keeping the other member feared. Would appreciate any advice you have. Thanks |

Re: Dealing with Shaman in 2 v 2
Try out a totem killing macro. Just wand till they are gone. I have seen too many videos of people trying to kill shamans and not even bothering to take out there biggest asset, the totems. As a Demo spec lock, most people will try to kill your pet asap, cause they know its what makes you stonger, same concept with a shaman. Until you get rid of the totems your going to have a tough time beating them.
Shamans will always be a tough fight for a lock. They are beatable, don't get me wrong, but they will give you hell. Just make sure you don't waste your felgaurds intercept on a damn grounding totem. Stun them, fear them, just do what you can to keep them from dropping more totems. With 2x lock and 2x fear keep the driud at bay and the shaman locked down. Bout all you can do. |

if they start with totems down, refuse to fight them near their totems.
get good at killing totems with your pet. expect a grounding totem before a heal, kill it before trying to spell lock. |

Re: Dealing with Shaman in 2 v 2
my 2 v 2 team is me a rog and a druid, last night me and the rog encountered a druid/shaman combo 3 times and took them out all 3 times, our tactic was the rog would burn on the shaman while I got the druid feared (once the druid unstealthed to heal I stunned him with pet then feared then sent pet on shaman) then we burst the shaman down and then 2 v 1 on druid. With the totems and fast heals shaman have, it can really be ruff to deal with them.
A team we lost to the night before that had a elem shaman and a resto shaman, with double sets of totems and the resto's earthsheild we couldn't burst them down. (It didnt help there totem formations where excellent so anywhere i fear'd they broke it) We haven't come up with a good strat yet to deal with this combo but I haven't seen it lots. |

Re: Dealing with Shaman in 2 v 2
I 2v2 with a resto shammy. Its a great combo Warlock + Shammy
Unfortunately I say we are very very very hard to kill slowly. Simple as that. So DoTs alone simply aint gonna cut it A few ways that I can think of that we lose 1: We get split up. Run us around a pylon. Fear the shammy away 2: Very very good burst damage. Given that you are both using DoTs. You are going to stuggle. Personally I would be DPSing one and trying to use a well time stun from the felguard to interrupt that critical heal. Followed by a spell lock. Should be plenty of time to get either the druid or shammy down. But it requires good coordination Like Konic said the shammy will be hard to keep crowd controlled. Especially with his totems so I woudl try and CC the druid, get the shammy totems down and hope that between two warlocks you can get him down Respec destruction for more burst damage ;) Affliction / Felguard warlocks are very easy for me. Clense the DoTs with the spellstone and banish the pet. CoT if they start casting shadowbolts. And you have shadow ward for that extra damage obsorbsion jR |

Re: Dealing with Shaman in 2 v 2
Nagrand they haven't been too much of a problem because we can run in, and each wand a totem, and then attack. The reason Nagrand isn't so bad is that we can hit it and dodge back behind the pillars pretty easily, or stay out of site until we do so we aren't targeted.
Blades Edge is much more troublesome. They usually get up to the bridge or on one of the pillars and set up there. Meaning that we really have to expose ourselves to knock out the totems and then start attacking. A lot of times one of us gets hit pretty hard in the process. Pets dont work so well because they have trouble getting onto and off of the pillars there. So the main problem is a good way to deal with the totems. After we clear them out we really don't have a lot of issues. But the issue is getting them cleared or using our dots on either opponent with the totems around. |

Re: Dealing with Shaman in 2 v 2
I think there are only two totems that you need to worry about as a lock.
Grounding totem - as mentioned, and I think the tremor totem (something like that). Macro that up - so you can target grounding, then tremor..... either sending the pet on it.... or wanding them. ( or a macro that sends pet to one and wands the other). Not too sure. Sounds like you are far more experienced than me so you've probably tried all this. |

Re: Dealing with Shaman in 2 v 2
I cant really comment on how to beat a shammy, but one thing I have noticed when I come across Locks is that try to fear as a opener. First thing I do is smack down tremor totem (very unreliable, but might as well use it) and wait until the last second to interrupt. By this time I have dropped your health bar by a large %, so the lock would start panicking... Its usually a free kill at this stage.
