PvP, 1v1 Having trouble against Death Wish Fury Warrior /w Afflict Lock
It's pretty much what the title says. I'm talking about even with a seduce + crit soul fire, then coil as he's intercepting and then pop healthstone, lay dot, I'm still dead even if I kill him. I really can't get past death wish, you can't fear him so you're pretty much relying on seduction which doesn't work with afflict. The only thing I can think of is chain seducing but I'm not sure if my crit level is high enough for my destruction spec to pay off. I'm 37/0/16 at the moment. I'm running around with a 12% to crit only not counting the 5% off bane (I'm assuming). |

Re: PvP, 1v1 Having trouble against Death Wish Fury Warrior /w Afflict Lock
Yeah I had this problem as well. I just can't keep em off me long enough to nuke him so I HAVE to rely on dots. Seduce works to lay down the first three dots (Curse of Agony, Corr,Sl) then DC for immo then I try for a reseduce and drain life. Usually it doesn't work anymore, I even had my DC resisted once, I about deleted my lock then. Was a very bad night dueling and I learned nothing. I am curious to see how others deal with it or of they are having issues with them as well. I don't pvp alot at all anymore so inexepriance may be 90% of my problem. |

Re: PvP, 1v1 Having trouble against Death Wish Fury Warrior /w Afflict Lock
My experience with fury warriors is basically that they are just built to kill warlocks. All the different kinds of immunity to fear plus skills like charge stun, intercept, etc... combine to mess you up. Before the BC a destruction lock with a lot of spell damage could hope to get lucky with a backlash proc and crit but frankly most end game warriors have too much health for that to be a reliable tactic (plus you said affliction). My advice to you is this, enjoy the fact that you can kill everyone but a very specific spec of warrior, and realize that most pvp warriors prefer to go arms so the chance of running into many fury warriors is slim. |

It's a rough fight, but here's a few things to make it easier. 5 points in DE - shoot for min. 10k stamina, better at 12K+ CoEx- keep them out of melee range LoS- run around a pole/rock to mess with intercept/charge Pet- sick your pet on them early, it'll put them in combat, which (I hear, correct me if I'm wrong) prevents them from using some of their rage-generating opening moves. -Gritz |

Re: PvP, 1v1 Having trouble against Death Wish Fury Warrior /w Afflict Lock
It's sad because people keep talking about how locks are imba in fights when fury warriors wipe the floor with me and since I' afflict lock, I'm going to have a rough time vs CloS rogues too. I keep seeing all these posts about how locks are king of pvp, and I was just wondering if I was missing something there. |

In the game Stratego: Of 9 ranks, the Field Marshall is the highest ranking piece. The Spy is the lowest ranking piece. The only thing that can kill a Field Marshall is another Field Marshall or a Spy. |

Re: PvP, 1v1 Having trouble against Death Wish Fury Warrior /w Afflict Lock
Well, there is no King of PVP but we are a good PVP class. Just like other good classes there is another class that tends to be our nemesis. Rogues ruin mages, priests, and some warlocks, but warriors and pallies can beat them with regularity. Warriors don't do so hot against priests, hunters and mages. It all balances out that way. You're are complaining about warriors and rogues, but how many other classes are complaining about us? That said, there is no reason a good strategy can't overcome the disadvantages you face with particular classes. |

Quote:
That would keep them from being able to use charge as an opener, they could still use bloodrage to get a bit of rage up but this is probably still a good idea, if only to weed out the dumber warriors. The one caveat I would say about sending your pet on the warrior to get em into combat is this, pull it right back to you after you have the warrior engaged and have at least thrown up a dot or two, they can hit hard and you don't want them killing your little buddy. |

Re: PvP, 1v1 Having trouble against Death Wish Fury Warrior /w Afflict Lock
As an affliction lock, getting a warrior into combat to deny them the charge isn't difficult - you have a 36 yard range on DoTs, they need 25 yards to charge. It's possible, but very, very difficult to keep a warrior outside charge range for a long time using Curse of Exhaustion. Hit him with that the second he reaches 36 yards and then apply siphon and corruption as you run the opposite direction from him. If he can't close to 25 yards he can't intercept (which he can't, he's snared with CoX), all the while your DoTs are ticking. It's extremely hard to do successfully, but when you manage to take half a warrior's life bar away before he's gotten into melee range you pretty much feel like you've won the game. don't forget you can sac a void for a good shield to let you get off a nuke. Jump round him too....and use more than just forward and backward (combined with left right). use the buttons that make you run sideways, if you mix it up he may try and hit and you won't be infront. All the while your Dots are ticking over. Not saying i beat them, but i stay alive a bit longer than most. I feel the most you can do is survive till someone else can CC them, or take the agro off you. |
