Arena tactics
Ive never been much of a PvPer...on a normal server...about 800 kills total  But recently ive been wanting to get into BG and Arena fighting but been into the BG this morning...my lack of experience shows and I mean it really does show. Would anyone suggest some good combos of spells that I can practice, im deep Affliction and currently try... Corruption, Siphon Life, SoC, then a fear effect and after that im trumped, im either being hammered so Shadow Bolt takes ages to cast or Drain Life which doesnt seem to return as much health as is being taken...usually end with me dead and them down to half health and DoTs wearing off...  Any advice would be greatly appreciated |

Depends greatly on your partner and the setup (versus 2, 3 or 5). You'll usually be a high priority target so you should try to get a lot of instants in your build. If you really have 55 points into affliction, I suggest that you redo your build to include demonic embrace and shadowburn, or the instant summon. Arena fights are very different from bgs. Everything usually goes very fast as everyone has all its cooldowns. As long as you don't have many hp or resilience, a rogue or warrior jumping on you usually means a very fast death. You'll be a high priority target so one of your goal is to simply survive. Depending on if you're teaming with a healer or not there are various strategies for that. In general... - Sacrifice a voidwalker 15s before the beginning of the fight, then summon the demon of your choice. You should have approx. 15s left on your shield once the arena begins. It can, for instance, greatly reduce the omfg factor of the 3mn mages you'll certainly encounter. - Use line of sight extensively. Warriors will have a hard time following you, hunters won't be able to 3shot you, etc etc. - Keep an eye out on the other team's healer. You have two insta fears and the felhunter's spell lock to break heals. Having them ready for that is tricky, since you'll often have to get the melee off you first I'm myself a very average player, playing with a very average combo (no heal basically), so all of this is very basic  If you manage to play in a "leet" combo like with a shadowpriest or resto druid, you'll certainly get higher in ratings, and against harder opponents

Im playing with a Hunter friend...he plays with an other lock in a 2v2 and now im the third addition...they have 17-23 at the moment... So VW sacking, hide behind pillars etc, move around as much as possible What about spell combos? any tips with that? |

Well corruption + siphon life is pretty solid CoEx should help keeping your focused target out of your hunter's deadzone, and it will be essential to control the enemy healer as you're not exactly specced for burst.Keep in mind that you have to put several affliction effects on your target for drain life to be effective. You can even toss a UA if you feel you can cast safely. Even if there's no dispeller it's a very good dot. Also don't forget than stuff is terribly important in arena. If you don't have enough hp/spellpower/whatever you'll get stomped by better stuffed players... |

Shadowburn and UA Melee - Fear/Deathcoil/Howl of Terror, Shadowburn, UA then Drain Life and pop a Shadowbolt whenever I get a Nightfall What about Hunters? Get into his dead zone then what? fear? |

Hmm try to replace your neck & cloak asap Finishing your frozen shadoweave set will also help you a lot but I guess you're already on it.I wouldn't bother with immolate, especially since you don't have much spelldamage. If you get 1.5s cast UA which scales better. Curse of tongues should be up on the healers of course, fearing them can help you a lot also. Against hunters, we usually charge them with our mounts, fear bomb and stick to them. I'm with a warrior so unless the guy is beast specced, he should be hamstringed / coex'd during the fight. It's also possible to dot & hide behind a pillar, as hunters will destroy you if they can get some clear shots. |

Been hoping for good drops but not happening for me... Ill respec again and get CoEx(whats another 30g  )Nowhere near getting the FSW finished...impossible to get Primal Water on my server =( Right tyvm for your help...ill get practicing right away and let you know when ive got Gladiator ranking

Nowhere near getting the FSW finished...impossible to get Primal Water on my server =( [/quote] Try Skettish in the lake loads of water elementals, fairly low hp and most people are busy above water level doing the repeatable quests, fairly nice drop rate

or just farm more valuable primals (air for example) and trade them for more water ! |
