Re: Rogues..the bane of my existence.
Well, most warriors will be in berserker stance when fighting a lock, and that means Pummel is available. So drain life is susceptible to being pummeled, and that means 4 sec of shadow school lockdown. The cooldown for Pummel is 10sec I believe. Maybe my gear is sub-par, but I find that the Arms/Fury warriors that I am encountering can easily dps me to death before my DOTs and drains can get the job done. (I do not have 15k health, I have 8.5k......) I just find that in most realistic BG fights, I am hamstrung, facing a fear immune warrior. I am basically forced, as a lock, to outdps him with drain life/dots before he Mortal Stirike Execute me to death. That's why I think Soul Link really helps here. A Felguard in my experience is another dot, but intercept is always useful. Sure, you don't have Siphon Life, but that is not so useful in a 1v1 situation given the relatively low amount of dps for Siphon Life. Unstable Affliction is strong (if he doesn't pummel that), but the Felguard is, in a way, a DOT like Unstable Affliction. I just find that with Rogues, they are more susceptible to stun lock mistakes, or wrong CLOS time that i have a chance to blow through their relatively lower amounts of health. My fights with Felguard locks usually depends on how lucky I am. If my iHOT goes off and Felguard does not resist it (so I can banish), then I am good. otherwise, I get destroyed.... |

Re: Rogues..the bane of my existence.
Mmm yes, when I was around level 20-40, rogues were the bane of my existence, now I pay them back. ![]() I literally win 90% of my rogue encounters with a Succy and my Destro. As soon as he pops a Sap on me I'll seduce him and wait it out, when we're facing one on one I'll reseduce or something to get him a bit farther back or stunned with Shadowfury. With the stun time on that I'll nuke him with a massive Soul Fire (crit please! ) and begin adding in an Immolate and Curse of Agony. Nuke, nuke, nuke, Conflagerate, Shadowburn. No Rogue can survive that, they may hit fast, but they're on the low-end of Stamina. I also have the PvP shielding trinket, so I use that to block a hit or two as well.Hope it helps, if all else fails, melt his face with Destro. Even if you die, your DoTs might kill him, and either way, you know he's running at around 10% health when you're done with him.

Re: Rogues..the bane of my existence.
Its good to know to wait till kidney shot before popping trinket but i generally get the sap, stunlock etc routine while grinding with my void so i sac void for the shield but the prob is i have the rogue beating on me & the mob i was fighting. I had the situation the other day when i made some spellcloth & the elemental spawns. I killled the elemental but was down on health same as my void & he did the routine & got a free kill. By the time i ran back he was gone. One change i think is needed is to let you see rogues/druids that are stealthed when you are dead so they can't just stealth & wait for you to res & get another free kill before you can mount & get away or get back to full health & go after them. I used to hunt rogues in IF back at 60 when they tried to get near where you signup for Bg (so they can drop people that have just come out of BG & are still flagged) but since blizz changed rogues to "stealth" & dropped detect greater invis. to standard its just been useless & even with a healthstone etc i would get stunned & they would start the routine & i pop trinket & get instant stunned again & dead.

Re: Rogues..the bane of my existence.
I'm UA with 12.5k unbuffed aswell as 440 resilience. This is how I counter rogues Cheap Shot (wait it out) 5p kidney shot (trinket) Apply iHowl > Siphon Life, Corr, Curse of Agony, UA if you can (if he fail to kick) If he kicks it, try an Immolate. At this point spam drain life until the rogue uses CloS. After that, reapply dots. Death Coil > Escape Artist > Amplified CoeX. It's usually a win by now. Things to avoid * Death Coil into CloS * Wasting seconds by casting fear. Seconds you should invest draining his life with. That's it I think, let me know if I forgot something. |

Quote:
Warriors: FG hits for less on plate, so you need to take more hits as your DoTs tick. With affliction, SiLi + UA (if you can get it off) in addition to CoEx and Corruption gets them pretty close to dead. Shadowburn + juked pummel Drain life to finish them off. Advantage: Affliction Rogues: FG hits hard, SL lets you soak a stun lock. With Affliction, all of your DoTs will be removed by CloS, and you take 20% more damage through the stun lock. Advantage: Demo |

Re: Rogues..the bane of my existence.
So, with 9K health and 91 resilience it is normal to die in rogue encounters. |

Getting opened doesn't matter what > Seduce (rogue trinkets out) > death coil > re-seduce > Soulfire > Shadowfury > Immolate > Conflagrate > Searing pain (in case the rogue Clos'd you just run) > rogue sprints / vanishes > cast HoT, making you fear him when he reaches you (in case this doesn't work use PvP trinket on CS opener or KS) > searing pain > searing pain > shadowburn > seduce > etc. etc. |

Re: Rogues..the bane of my existence.
as desto use a succy and do this: Seduce > they trinket > deathcoil > seduce > soulfire > shadowfury > seduce > immolate > conflagrate > prob get hit > shadowburn If they CoS then you are gonna get hit. seduce so it will do it right after and do whatever was next on the list. save shadowfury if you still have it tho for right after seduce ends. fear can be used once seduce gets near useless |

Re: Rogues..the bane of my existence.
I have been losing almost all of my rogue/warrior encounters as affl. lock. Last week I have respeced to demo with FG. May spell damage was 804, now it is 958. I have SL. ( %20 less damage) Lost IHot but gained FG stun. I have + %3 crit resist, stamina and int. My crit chance increased +%4 to %17.89 I can pop up a new FG or whatever necessary in a moment if my pet dies. I use Corr, Curse of Agony and Immo , starting and ending with SBurn and occasional DC. I use Drain life, Searing pain or even SBolt if possible. I enable auto cleave and thanks to Gritz for the 1 point to mana feed, FG is almost never oom. Result: I can beat most of the rogues and half of the warriors. They were running directly to me when I was affl. Now they are hesitating when they see FG running towards them to intercept. And yet demo is slightly better than affl. against other classes. |
