Yet another Destro arena post
I'm sure you guys have seen posts like this before, I'm a newbie here and like every post i've read is really informative so I figured I would ask! This is my first warlock and my first cloth caster at that :P I'm dying to be destro, but a few friends and I are gonna start an arena team, all i've seen is nono on destro. I'm currently Demo and I like but the question is.. Is there really no succussful destro arena locks out there? I'm not looking to conquer the arena and be no1 every single week, but I would like to win and enjoy it and destro is the spec I enjoy the most so far, but I don't want a bunch of frustration =\ Any help/tips would be appreciated Last edited by Drains; September 19, 2007 at 01:28 PM.. |

Since you probably dont have much gear with tons of stam and res. I wouldnt suggest a destro build at this point....a demo or affliction build will give you alot more survivability and mobility until you get the gear to take more punishment since a destro build will need more time to just stand and cast. If its a 5v5 team, your main job will be more then likely to CC the healers and interrupt their healing spells more so then just dealing damage. |

What he said. IMO destruction is not a very good Arena spec. (I am destruction BTW, I love it and have no intention of ever changing) but becuase you have so few instant casts, and limited kiting ability it is tough. You'll be doing a lot of shadowfury, curses, CC and felhunter management. Not nearly as much full bore DPS as you'd like. Last edited by Hordelock; September 19, 2007 at 01:41 PM.. |

Re: Yet another Destro arena post
I did 10 Arena matches last night with a 0/21/40 build. Not pure Destro, but certainly got the majority of the points there. I gotta say, I was blowing people away. I kept the Fel Hound out, Made HS's for me and my partner (2v2) made a Spell Stone, And I buffed both me and my partner with Detect Invis, and Unending Breath (to help dispells from removing good buffs). I put up Fel Armor. My partner was a Fury Warrior. Anyways, out of the 10 matches, I came out at 50-50... Lost 2 of the battles due to horrible lag issues I had come up, but even still those were close fights. The other three losses were cuz the other team was skilled and we were just getting the hang of working together. I went up against, Shadow Priests & Shamen, Hunter & Warlock, Pally & Warlock and a Druid Pair. Fought some of them a few times. Over all, I think it was a great build! Very successful from my initial runs.

Re: Yet another Destro arena post
I'm currently running 9/8/44 after being 7/41/13 through most of my arena career. What I can tell you is, if I am jumped on by both people in a 2v2, it is very hard for me to get out of that situation, whereas with soullink and a felguard, I had a lot more survivability. Currently I'm at just over 10k HP and 216 resilience and about 800 spell damage with Fel Armor up. I feel as though once I can get my next piece of arena gear (next week) I will have much more survivability and will truly be able to shine as a destro spec. It's just way too fun blowing kids up!! Just gotta get your HP up there or you get creamed :[ |

Re: Yet another Destro arena post
A lot depends on your play style too. You should definitely wait on gear or you will become very frustrated dying so quickly. I play a 0/21/40 spec in a 5v5 and we went 7-2 on Monday night, ending with ~1700 rating. The biggest advantage of the destruction spec is the HUGE burst damage you can do if forgotten about. I tend to hide in the back (we actually had 2 druids and a shammy, so i sacc'd my imp for more damage) and was able to target the first person to "break our front lines" and burst him down with a soulfire/immolate/conflag/shadowburn while the rest of our dps focus'd on the healer(s). It isnt a bad spec and lots of fun to play, i highly suggest getting shadowfurry (as you have limited/no stun abilities and it is an amazing way to get some distance between melee and yourself). |

Re: Yet another Destro arena post
good to see some people rocking destruction. i have been trying to switch to it for months, but never quite have enough gear to make it work. I still get all the felweave stuff instead of the dreadweave in the hope it works at some stage. |
