Warlock Vs Hunter BM ...this is the matter...

Hi Guys!

I'm new on this site, and the first thing i want to ask you is how to win against a hunter bm...write here your tactics....and try to find a way!

My only real strategy is to kill the hunter asap. I usually Death Coil the hunter and fear the pet, this keeps the hunter from silencing me, and then just lay on the DoTs. I'm Aff/Demo so I have soul link and can stay alive for a long time while the pet is pounding on me, but if you don't have soul link the pet can be very dangerous. If the pet is immune to CC, I usually find myself SoL. If you're destro, hunters can be fun; just put Curse of Weakness on the pet and just let it pound on you so Backlash will proc. You may still want to CC the pet anyways since the hunter's arrows will activate Backlash, but it's not "as" important. You'll also want to get really close to the hunter so it can't shoot. His melee will be weaker than his ranged attacks, but there is a distance you can keep where his melee can't reach and you'll be too close for ranged, but then you have to worry about his traps.

Just the other night there was a hunter friend of mine in the guild who got a little to excited about Hunters in PvP and apparently got some people all up in arms. So I was called and asked to log in and go head to head with him in some duels just to see if he was right. Now to be fair I really dont think his gear is as good as mine (mostly thanks to the wonderful gearing your warlock guides provided here). We decided we would do a best out of 3 since we both knew there were abilities we could dig up that would not be available every fight but would make a one shot deal just a bit too lop sided.

I am affliction build with destro down to shadow burn. For the first fight I assumed he would use his Bestial wrath so I went with a void walker for the damage sheild. This actually worked long enough for me to shadowburn, lay on all my dots, I think i cast one more damage spell before i drained life just to stay ahead. I barely won that one but did come out ahead. The downside is he did not use bestial wrath cause he assumed that fight was a loosing battle. I then switched it up to sucubus and the one fight he did use BW he tore me up before i could really get a good plan. Then in the final fight i just seduced him and killed his pet. then burnt him down no problem. We continued to go at it and i only lost one more the rest of the night.

My only real advice is seduce if you have the pet out, if they use BW get in close to the hunter and just try and stay alive long enough, it is tough as hell and that pet is a machine but if you can outlive that first wave of damage and can get away from his arrows at the same time, you have a good shot at fearing and then getting life back long enough to finish him off.

I assume by hunter BM, you mean beast mastery, meaning they will not be able to silence (since silence is a 41 point MM talent) and when they pop their bestial wrath, both the hunter and pet are immune to all CC. I've done some duels against a couple BM hunters, equally geared that I run with a lot. With my current spec (24/37/0), i have absolutely no problems w/ them, just dot dot dot, drain drain drain. The last time I did a few duels, the BM hunter couldn't get me below 70% life, and I think I lifetapped some of that health. After a few rounds, and the same thing happening, even changing pets for variation, the hunter declared my spec "the anti BM spec" even though when we play arenas, he always floors me w/ his damage.

I know a lot of people put CoW on pets, but I rarely even bother in 1v1. Just burn him down fast as you can

I've only a thing to say. When bestial wrath is active (must be nerfed!!!

) for many seconds you can't fear the pet...and your casts are easily interrupted...this is the real problem. If you try to kill the pet you lose much mana (and also life for the attacks) and don't forget the hunter's traps (maybe against pet)...i'm affliction/demonology (with felguard) but i'm not 70. And after this patch....dot's are not powerful like before...

Waiting for other tips!

For me I had to go 21/31/0 +2. Then put SL on the pet and hunter, curse of weakness on both try for corruption on hunter. Then drain away. remember you are not trying to do damage. Just survive for 18 sec. If he has good gear you will need your lock-rock. They are kind of a one trick pony after they stop glowing red you can pick them off at will.
