Hunter problem
Hello fellow warlocks.
Lately I've been doing a lot og Bgs in order to gather marks and honor for s1 items come next season and I've had a lot of problem when dealing with hunters. I can't seem to get any spells with casting time off regularly due to a huge ammount of pushback I get from both hunter and pet attacking me. Getting into his deadzone isn't always possible since he can generally outrun me and still fire off arcane shot and stings on the run (not to mention his pet clawing into me as I run). I haven't really done any serious pvp so far since I've been busy levelling my lock to 70 (using 7/43/11 build), so I'm looking for some advice on how to handle the annoying hunters. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Hunter problem
Hi,
I use my Succy to deal with any humanoid class in BG, using seduce on the hunter can give you the time you need to get fear off. When the hunter is feared and dotted I then deal with the pet. Or just concentrate on finishing off the hunter if the pet is not doing too much harm. using seduce works well for me in any 1v1 situation because it gives me time to get fear on quickly without taking damage and suffering interuptions. |

Re: Hunter problem
Hunters can be problematic sometimes, I’m not familiar playing the hunter class, so I don’t know their abilities, but I am used to face them in BGs. Usually is a very good ideea to put CoW on their pet right away. If the hunter is any good you will already take serious damage doing this, because of the hunter’s great reach, so at this point you just need to DC him so you can get a fear off and get some health back too. At this point, even as the hunter is feared follow him to get and remain in their dead zone (you never know when the fear will break because of trinket and damage). Follow him and keep him feared with dots on him. Keep them close (not too close) and feared because they can sure slow you down and silence you when they have that long range. This whole strategy only works if your DC is up, if not I personally can’t really cast a normal fear on them. Seduce should work too, but I don’t use the succy myself, I run with felpup (I hate to die because of other locks

Re: Hunter problem
Being an affliction warlock, I make sure to get siphon life up on both the pet and the hunter right away. Typically I run with the felhunter out, so I stick that on the hunter for good measure as well. After that, I try to keep as close as possible. I don't worry about their melee damage too much since it's pretty gimped usually. Have your trinket ready to get out of stuns and what not. Good hunters will drop traps on you sometimes, so that can be a problem...
Other than that, use all of your regular tricks... DC and fear as you would with anybody else. If I need health back, I'll DL otherwise I'll let loose with an immolate or shadow |

Re: Hunter problem
With an Affliction spec you've also got the iHoT option. My current theory on how to deal with BM Hunters is to use iHoT initially as that pet moves towards you at quite a rate and more often than not fear gets interrupted. My next step is to fear the pet (no DOTS) and then forget about it and go for the hunter with the usual DC, DoTs and DL. This is only theory though and I got totally owned by a BM hunter the other night in AV

Re: Hunter problem
Another small help is having Boar's speed enchant on your boots - Some STAM and an 8% run speed makes it easier to get close and stay close. If they pop Aspect of the Cheetah hit them with Shadowburn to daze them.
