Fighting the Hunter
Hi to everyone. First I wanted to say awsome site this has really sparked ideas for many areas for me on my lock. Anyway down to business. I am currently a 35 lock just trying to get by. I am obviously in contested areas very often fighting the alliance on a daily basis, and even with my trash gear I am usually doing pretty well (total HP without buffs is 1185 or in that range, and 2200+ for mana), even able to take on more then one at a time at higher levels. The only problem that I have seem to come across from time to time is the hunter. I can get pretty lucky with them and find some one who doesn't know to much about how to play their hunter, but all to often for me I'll get jumped by a hunter who knows what he is doing and he will drop me and i may only do 1/2 damage. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me on how to handle them, Im affliction spec all the way except for 5 points in demo for improved imp and health stone. I also usually work with a VW for easy mob fighting. I know a hunter isn't easy to just switch from fightin mobs to handlin them but any little idea may help me. btw one of the major problems is that b/c they use cats (most of the time) and stay their proper distance back I seem to have a lot of problems being able to cast-slowing down my speed sux.
also along with all this is amplify curse worth having? Last edited by Terrorist; December 07, 2007 at 03:02 PM. |

Re: Fighting the Hunter
I would definetly max out Demonic Embrace for the added STAM in your scenario.
You also mention that you have points in Improved Imp yet mostly use the VW; you could reallocate those points. Last edited by Maltyrius; December 07, 2007 at 04:10 PM. Reason: Added thought |

Re: Fighting the Hunter
i would have saved imp hs for a last couple talent points
throw CoW and siphon life on the pet, then focus on the hunter. Get close for the dead zone, and even if you arent in the dead zone better to be in melee than ranged with them. I usually throw corr, siphon life, curse of exhaustion on the hunter and then try to get a fear off. Once he is feared i throw immolate on for some more damage and drain life. Its not as easy as it sounds, things get resisted, pushback on spells, and hunters can do some serious damage, also if they have beast within (which most do i find) they cant be feared. |

Re: Fighting the Hunter
Yeah I def know that that isnt as easy as it sounds (and its already not sounding that easy anyway
I think I should prob get better gear aswell so im not a level 35 with just above 1k hp, and your right bout the imp that is kind of useless atm. Thanks for these tips hopefully this will make me last a little longer, any other ideas I would greatly appreciate :D |

Re: Fighting the Hunter
yeah, also the biggest thing is to make sure to get CoW and Siphon Life up on the pet, that makes the pet very easy to ignore, sure it takes away cast times (but you shouldnt have many unless you're destro and then you should be 70% uninterruptable with backlash). Also when the pet is doing very little damage and you are getting an extra siphon life ticking, it makes you panic a lot less
I found thats my biggest problem vs hunters is panicking because of the pet, but now the pet just makes me laugh. |

Re: Fighting the Hunter

Re: Fighting the Hunter
I use Curse of Agony on the Hunter but not b/c of the tip i been using CoW and Siphon on the pet, and it has been a HUGE help (honestly its surprising how such small things can improve your playing and all that. Even had just enough time in AB to drop a hunter before getting zerged by the rest of the people :D

Re: Fighting the Hunter
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the "dead zone" go away in the last patch?
