Totally frustrated with AV!!!
Being alliance I have never expected to win more than 3 out of 10 AVs but it's now to the point where 1 out of 10 would be welcome. Today I've so far run 6 AVs without a single win. If all I'd done was lose 6 straight maybe I wouldn't be so frustrated but it's how badly those 6 AVs were lost that bothers me. While 6 straight losses brought me 6 AV tokens they also brought me a total of less than 500 honor. One AV resulted in "0" honor which I think was a new Alliance low. What really frustrates me more than anything is the fact that people going AFK is totally out of control. The least amount of players AFK in my 6 matches was 13 and in the match resulting in 0 honor there were a total of 27 players who never bothered to leave the cave. 15 or more players AFK in an AV is nothing unusual these days and for whatever reason it was never this bad before Blizzard instituted reporting players AFK. I've heard all the arguments about how those who are AFK pay a monthly fee just like me so it's their right to go AFK but I don't accept that even though it seems that's how Blizzard feels. Is it just me that feels this way because most players I talk to just don't care? Maybe I should take advice given to me by a chronic AFKer: spend all day afk in different BGs while I'm at work; at the end of a day at work go home with 5-7K of honor, lots of tokens and 0 frustration? |

From what I've come to understand is that you can report the people that do not participate and they get 0 honor. I don't know why any of them would bother sitting in the cave when they can't get anything for it. Also they can't go AFK because doing so boots you out of the Battle Grounds. My past few AV runs have been less than thrilling, horde winning more often lately, However I got to say that AV has traditionally been an Alliance dominating BG. Atleast on the two realms I play.

Come to Shadow Council. Allies are normally done with Galv before Horde stops complaining about who was covering SH graveyard and who wasnt... or who is still AFK. Allies are normally on Drek before we (I am horde) even get *TO* the aid station. There were a few rare times when we had a good old fashioned 4½ hour AV that mattered. |

I just don't play AV anymore. It was never a fun BG to begin with, and now that it doesn't give good honor I have absolutely no reason to subject myself to it. |

I don't know how it was in the OP's battlegroup, but for my battlegroup, AV was dominated by alliance for the last two years or so, ever since they removed the elite guards from the different points. Since the change to a somewhat more tactical AV than just a PvE rush, the tables have turned, and for the first time in said 2+ years, our battlegroup horde are winning more AV's than they lose. I suspect that part of the problem is an alliance morale issue. They've been so used to winning all the time, that the fact these changes are giving horde more of a chance, suddenly they (alliance) are falling into the same mentality as they have in AB and WSG. (although to a lesser degree in WSG) I've played as a 70 alliance in my battlegroup, and the defeatist mentality is rife. "Why bother trying, they're just going to win anyway". I personally don't think it's the anti-afk change causing the problem, but how soon after it the changes to AV came through. For the first 2-3 weeks after the anti-AFK change, our horde had significantly less AFKers, (down from 15-20 to maybe 5 or so a game) and that gave horde the edge needed to begin winning more often. Combine that with the latest AV changes, and you have a horde with less AFKers, and more of a chance at winning. Suddenly the alliance are being pushed harder to succeed, and the strain is telling and causing people to fall back into the "why bother" mentality.

Don't forget that Blizzard was having some troubles with awarding the correct amount of honor for Alterac Valley, if you want to eat people in AV just come to Lightninghoof, Horde can't get a footing in ANY of the Battlegrounds as of late.

I'm disappointed in the changes only because it threw queue balance in favor of the alliance, was great fast honor with 1 minute queue times, but now we actually had over an hour wait queue on Saturday. |

I don't understand why the Aliance are bitching so much about AV now. For some weird reason in all the other BG's the Alliance stomp Horde 10-1 and these other Bg's have a much shorter Que time. So whats the score here Horde wins 1 BG (AV) and Aliance win all the others right? So what the hell is the problem? So basically what I've come to realize is that on both sides, Aliance and Horde there is a lack of team work. So damnit Alliance Que up for AV and try a little harder and yell at your AFKers and Horde do the same in the other BG's (Eye of the Storm people I'm looking at you). I have been running alot of AV since the patch trying to get the S1 set and I have found it to be about the same as before the changes to AV with alliance winning around 60% on the Reckoning BG. I guess every battlegroup is different. To combat AFKers I just started using a mod to auto-report them. TuringTest seems to work pretty well and lets me forget about all the arseholes lurking in the cave. |

I have Played Both sides to AV and heres what I have seen. Ally do not D as mush as the horde or when they do they are already behind becuase they fail to split the D the right way. Ally always go for galv first instead of just sending a 10 man team and the rest to Cap Tower and first Gy. Ally don't have as many healing speced players...everyone of them is worried about doing damage. Ally fail to D... what I mean by this is to offten do I see Under geared ally sitting in a towwer alone or with another under geared person. The horde just send 1-3 people to check a tower rape the poor ally there and recap. You can argue all you want but that the truth about ally. I have a 70 Rouge,Warrior, and Mage all on ally and in to diffrent battle groups. and FYI horde trash talk and complain to each other just as much as the ally do, but they do work together for the most part. If they aren't playing some D back at Galv and IB then they are full blown O. And Horde have just as many afk as ally do. I as post Ally remeber the days of Winning 10 AV strait or even 15 to hordes 1...maybe its karma making that full circle.
