affliction warlock VS fire mage
Usually firemage will sheep and use AP Pom pyro as a starter.
After that phew phew crit he will get in rnge for fire breath, and start scorch, to burn us fast. Affliction locks need time for dots to be applied and have effect. So i find that fight hard. Unless i had luck, and founded the right sequence: 1) have your pvp trinket always on. even when farming. 2) if you get sheeped, watch theyr castbar. 3) at half of the caast time of pyro..... trinket out of sheep 4) wait gcd, death coil and then fear 5) dot and reapply fear as needed. you have done! |

Re: affliction warlock VS fire mage
What I did when I was Affliction:
Felhunter Spelllock Deathcoil Shadowburn Drainlife until he's dead, Shadowburn if avail (if you get counterspells, I used my dispell macro from my felhunter) Sheep is trinket/dispell, right. Now they all have iceblock. Good! Time to bandage. |

Re: affliction warlock VS fire mage
Against mages always ensure your fellhunter has devour magic off autocast. I also try not to sick it on foes right away. That way sheep is no issue, as you can get fellhunter to eat it off you immidiately. Just make sure you make a macro with /cast devour magic Semtarn. Insert own name of course.

Re: affliction warlock VS fire mage
Yes, it should work very nicely with a felhunter out. Things like spellock, devour magic, DC + Fear, UA should really do the trick. Very important is to stop that initial, big crit, pyroblast. If that hits you're in trouble.

Re: affliction warlock VS fire mage
Curse of Tongues makes a fire lock much, much easier (and, as above, devour sheep and CS, spell lock the yoga flame).

Re: affliction warlock VS fire mage
I have never been beat by a mage in a duel...came close once but close dont mean shit. Never duel another caster with anything other then a fel hunter. Fear, CoT, spell lock, and dots are our best friends oh and a few SBs dont hurt...well dont hurt us anyway...lol.

Re: affliction warlock VS fire mage
Yes we are... but it just makes me cry to know that our anti lock "friends" kill us so much easier than we can kill a mage. I mean, when you fight a mage, ofc it's much easier than anything else but... still you gotta pay atention. I had many close duels with mages and the very good ones did manage to kill me from time to time. But I never-ever won a duel against a rogue. I may be just quite bad at pvp, but still... mostly I eat shadow priests, druids, shammys and hunters like candy.

Re: affliction warlock VS fire mage
I just dueled a fire mage with uber gear the other day when i was 59 or 60 or w.e. He was 62. It was a fight that was a bit harder then I expect, but since I am fg specced it was pretty much stand back and watch. Also something that I have noticed, is that even though all these other classes bitch and moan a lock is a bit more complicated to play then any of them think-especially when the chance to fear is reduced or easily trinketed out. As for hunters so far i run into mainly bm hunters a cpl lvls higher then myself and i drop them down far but no kill :(. Rogues arent to bad-I havent run into a combat rogue yet and i hear they eat locks pretty good, but as for subt and as rogues i usually beat them-another duel in Hellfire against a 62, as a 60-2/3 duels i won-that first one he got the jump on me. He was very ****y, but after words he said he is gonna reconsider attacking locks :D
