A rogue...clos... and you

Hi guys, there have been so many threads on the rogue subject and I read most of them, but still I find it, that I cannot live though the Clos period. When I face a rogue I do an acceptable job on the first part of the fight, but on the second part when the clos comes up, I just can't escape, I just get stunted and never get the chance to shoot my DC at them. How do you guys do it? My gear still sucks, I know, I only recently dinged 70 and have only 2 pieces of S1 dreadgear, this means only like.. 77 resilience. Will in time my survivability grow against rogues or not really? I don't wanna go sl/sl because I love Ihot and UA and the + spell damage.

Re: A rogue...clos... and you

Even with IHot and DC, even with 470 resilience and 13K HP, any good rogue with descent gear will slaughter you. The worst thing to see is how often the rogue does not even have to use CloS.

You can't escape during CloS. What can I do during CloS phase? Eat Healthstone. Do not trinket here, it's a waste. Send pet indeed. I even sometimes melee them to annoy them.

If you have SL and 13K HP you can live trough CloS with Voidwalker out (and probably Demon Armor). Problem is you don't have any burst and only 1 way to get rid of the rogue ONCE, Deathcoil

Re: A rogue...clos... and you

Does a Mage stand any sort of chance against you 1v1? That matchup is the same, if not more one-sided, as fighting a Rogue as a Warlock.

Don't fight Rogues 1v1 when possible, and rely on your teammates when you do have to.

Rogues are a lot more difficult than they used to be since the Drain Life change and the inclusion of armor penetration on their gear. I used to be able to go toe-to-toe with most Rogues, but they rip me up a lot harder than before.

Re: A rogue...clos... and you

I still gank rogues...that are in worse gear or have low health.

fighting a rogue that is prepared for it is basically just going to make you mad. so avoid it if possible.

im affliction lock. so i tend to put CoE up with a few other dots and fear. that makes him blow his cloak usualy. when that happens just run around and dont let him get behind you. this is the time when your 12-15k hp is most helpfull. if you have VW out sacrefice it.

when hes out of the cloak either iHoT or DC him. dot him up, SB him and repeat watever till necessary

this is assuming your not ganked.

Re: A rogue...clos... and you

Simple. MOVE. Do not stand still long enough for him to get close to you. Always face him since he will most likely enjoy seeing the crits fly from your back. What do I do?

Dot (any to break stealth though normally corruption or Curse of Agony)
Send pet as a tracking device and early warning system for others that may be around
Deathcoil
Fear
(Immolate,If it crits, Fear, else incinerate,Fear) repeat as needed
If he is close then shadowfury and get some distance. About this point he is pretty close to dead and I still have a healthstone and potion for when he pops the cloak.
Point is.. keep that sadist off your back!

Re: A rogue...clos... and you

Have always VW out for melee damage reduption. And when they clos, you Sac it. Then DC, fear, 0.5 resummon.
IMHO our only chance to survive enough for them to burn out theyr CD, and become susceptible to our damage.

Re: A rogue...clos... and you

only time i can consistently have a fighting chance is with a build that incoporates soul link. i know they are going to pop it, so i want them to do it asap. i usually run Battleground's with FG so he just keeps pounding away and i cleave just as soon as the cd is up. send FG into intercept the stunlock if he is far enough away. trink out of kidney shot and DC/fear. shadowburn every time it is up (except clos). drain life while rogue is feared. sb after dc (or run). with my gear and hp i can win about 3/10 fights where the rogue gets the opener (and usually he has to make a mistake). if i can get the opener it's about 7/10. bad thing about good rogues is they will always get the opener.

Re: A rogue...clos... and you

They key to beating a rogue is saving deathcoil until after the cloak. Death coil, fear, dot them up as you run away (good game if they're undead..). I have a terrible time with them but the only times I really win against them is when I do that.

After losing 60 rating this weekend to Rogue+Healer teams, I can't wait to watch them try to CloS my new Felguard
